I agree. I firmly believe the kids are picking up from the parents in attendance the angry and hostile vibe. I attended a 8 year old basketball league game a friend of mine had his kid on last summer here in Wichita. Not only were the parents from both sides yelling and screaming at the refs, but the parents from the opposing teams were also throwing verbal jabs at each other. In fact, two moms almost came to blows at the end of the game when the teams were walking off the court.
At the time, I was a little amused by the absurdity of the whole situation not to mention I think it's funny as hell when girls/women fight. But time allowed me to realize that these parents are freakin' certifiably nuts! They are living vicariously through their kids and each parent thinks they are raising the next LeBron James or Mia Hamm. I got no problem with a parent supporting their child and wanting him/her to do their best - there's nothing wrong with being happy and proud for your children. But when the parents start behaving like that in front of their kids, not only is it a bad influence, but it makes them look really really bad as a parent.
