Steve Davis, Oklahoma's starting quarterback when it won back-to-back national championships in the 1970s, was one of two people killed when a small aircraft smashed into three homes in northern Indiana, officials said Monday.

I was a child when I met Steve Davis at a football clinic here in Wichita. My father took me to OU games as soon as I could walk and I looked up to Davis like a hero. He asked me about football and sports and then shared a couple of stories relating to his faith. Those are words I will never forget.

He touched many lives and many souls....including a very young Doc.

RIP Steve. The world will miss you.
