World Health Organization has declared the Mpox outbreak in Africa a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC). Monkey Pox is a member of the smallpox family of viruses. Smallpox vaccinations provide protection. Vaccines for mpox are only recommended if you have been exposed or are likely to be exposed (e.g., going to Africa).

If it shows up in the States, and a vaccine is available and recommended by epidemiologists - whose job it is to identify pathogenic threats and develop public health solutions forgetting over lunch what you won't learn in a lifetime - then yes... I will get vaccinated.

It was already in the States. In 2022, there was an outbreak, and over 32,000 Americans were infected. The strain now coming out of Africa is a different strain.

You're right. I remember you guys talking about this. I'm not a full-time epidemiologist. If news doesn't affect the markets, I rarely see it.
