  • Up and Coming Wichita Junior Golfer

For those of you interested in local golfing talent my brother's 13-year old grandson is very possibly on his way to a PGA career.

He has been playing all over the country and this week is playing in the AJGA Wichita Junior Championship at Terradyne Country Club in Andover. After 2 rounds he is 10-under with a 3-stroke lead heading into today's final round. Two other golfers are 6-strokes off the pace.

    Leaderboard: https://www.ajga.org/ajga-wichita-ju...up/leaderboard

Note that Kaden is a Class of 2029. Only 2 of the 51 players in the field are Class of 2029. Everyone is older. The kid that is in 2nd place is Class of 2026.

Kaden's Dad pretty much followed the Tiger Woods model starting Kaden at a very young age. No doubt Kaden will have his choice of where he wants to attend college.

If he pulls it off, thats gotta be a record for the youngest winner ever?

Kaden struggling a bit today. He is 2-over after 13 holes. Brady Rapp out of Leawood Kansas, who will be a high school junior the next school year, is 2-under after 12 and has taken a 1 shot lead.

He plays out of Reflection Ridge. I see him frequently. He is talented and routinely plays the back tees.

Honestly I have been campaigning that they add a new "Purple" tee box in front of the Yellows. I call it the Kung Wu/Disability Tee box.

Kaden unable to gain any ground and the the Leawood kid finished strong shooting a 5-under 66 in the final round to finish the tournament at 12-under. Kaden "only" managed a 1-over 72 in his final round to finish the tournament at 9-under. Hopefully, Kaden is only a little disappointed and grows from the experience. The future certainly seems bright.

Charlie Haney out of Manhattan, who is only 1 year older than Kaden was 3rd at 6-under.

Not sure what tees these juniors play from (maybe SHOXAAC knows) but that is some pretty good playing.

Pretty amazing! Kaden should be super proud and pumped about his future!
