ESPN is reporting that Crennel has been fired, but not Scott Pioli. Could be one of those things where Pioli has to clean house before they fire him or......

The Kansas City Chiefs fired coach Romeo Crennel on Monday, but made no move on embattled general manager Scott Pioli despite a 2-14 season marked by blowout losses, fan rebellion and a murder-suicide involving one of their players.

If, by chance, Pioli is retained, he'll pick Luke Joeckel, Manti Te'o or Star Lotulelei and then go for Mike Glennon later on. I've heard from a reliable source that Pioli really likes Glennon. Mel Kiper, by the way, stated that Glennon could be the first signal-caller off the board, so maybe the Wolfpack product will be the quarterback who rises to the top of the draft. A lot will change over the next four months.

        Clark Hunts Statement

"I'm embarrassed by the poor product we gave our fans this season, and I believe we have no choice but to move the franchise in a new direction. I will immediately begin the search for the next head coach of the Chiefs. The entire football operation will remain under review, and there may be additional changes to come. No final determination has been made at this point on the future of General Manager Scott Pioli.

Finally, I want to personally apologize to our fans for our performance this season. We are blessed to play for some of the best and most passionate fans in the NFL and they deserve better than what we gave them this season. I want to thank our fans to know that I will do everything I can to provide them with a dramatically better team - both next season and in the seasons..to come - and our entire organization appreciates their support."

I think he is. I truly hope that they get it turned around so that I can bear to watch more than 30it minutes of their entire season.

Earlier, I was excited for the Chiefs to have the number one pick. But this year's offense class is downright underwhelming. There will be no first round running backs taken (although that is not a need for the Chiefs), but the QB situation is no where the level of last year's. Damn those Chiefs for playing slightly better last year.

My thought, the Chiefs need to trade their number one pick, move down in the draft, and select WR Keenan Allen or get LB Jarvis Jones or Mantei Teo. If the Chiefs land either one of these guys, damn! Their LB crew would be the best in the NFL. They'll still have a shot to get a good QB as this year's class is full of them, no Wilson, Luck or Griffen class QB's but plenty of Geno Smith type players such as Barkley, Smith, Glennon, Bray, etc.

It's so obvious that they need to trade down, it's a guarantee they won't.

I doubt if anyone will want to trade up.
