I want to trade this first round pick for a later first round and next years, do the same next year, then draft Johnny Heisman when he comes out, or Andrew Luck II or Robert Griffin 4.0 is found. Manziel is a baller.

You got to have a trade partner to trade. Im not willing to wait for 2 more years of medocre qb play. Besides heard that Manziel game doesnt translate well into the NFL.

The way the draft looks to me, if we take a QB we'll have 2 more years of mediocre play from the position.

Geno Smith will go in the top 10, so why not take a chance and just reach a tad to get the best pro QB prospect. The other plausible pick you can make here is draft either LT (dont need it) or a pass rusher (dont need a starter).

Just because he goes in the Top 10 doesn't mean we shouldn't expect mediocre play.

3 problems with that theory. One, reaching a tad got us Glenn Dorsey, Tyson Jackson, and Dontarie Poe. Two, our pass rush still sucks. our OLB's are great only because the have to be, and they shouldnt have to be the only pass rushers. Three, our OL does need help, and I like the idea of Joeckel and moving Albert back to guard on the right to help Winston. We need a QB, yes, but think we can do better in FA as a stop gap at this point versus wasting another 1st round pick on a project and upside.

BTW I agree on reaching on Jackson and Poe, but Dorsey was not a reach at all in fact he was the top prospect on the board, and actually the only reason he fell to us was cuz the Falcons took Matt Ryan instead who is so far getting the same draft grades as Geno Smith is currently, so sounds like they did the right thing by "reaching" and taking a chance on the qb. If we take a LT then that means we are letting Albert go (hes a Free agent), who is by the way a top 10 LT in the league, he is going to ask for LT money not guard money which is a huge difference, so that will not work at all imo. There isnt no qbs that that satisfy me that will be available in FA or trade unless aaron rodgers is available. Until we take a chance and take a QB then we will always have a ceiling of 10-6 every couple of years.

Manziel will have tat least two more years to become a thrower. Everyone will be ready for him next year so he will be forced to. And when I hear that Nebraskas qb is as good as anyone in the country, it doesn't make me excited to draft a qb with a top 2 pick.

@sub saint Louis will trade with us

who says Neb QB is as good as anyone in the country? Im a Neb football fan, and trust me Taylor Martinez will not have a place whats so ever in the NFL. Any of these guys in college may be all world in College, but that doesnt mean their game translates into the NFL. BTW is Manziel even over 6 foot?

                      Drew Brees isn't.

and there is only 1 drew brees, and even Drew Brees wasnt even a 1st round pick. Guys 6 foot and under playing the qb position at the NFL level is very very rare.

All NFL players are all rare.

Tom Brady's are rare. Tony G, rare.

The point is there are very few for sures in the NFL. The one thing that I am for sure is height isnt as important as other factors.

Ok if it isnt a factor then name me the last QB drafted in the 1st round that was 6 foot or under. Trust me there isnt many, the only one I can think of is Michael Vick. If it wasnt a factor then there would be lots more. Russell Wilson for example had 1st round talent, but 3rd to 4th round size, which is why he was taken in the 3rd round.

I just hope they don't go with another DL, that has really worked out well. Doesn't matter if the defense is super if we can't score. Doesn't appear to be a great quarterback out there this year. Joe Montana went at the end of round three and Brady was a sixth round pick so who knows? I just don't see wasting a first round pick on a QB. OL or reciever might be places to look.
