We are under a severe G4 storm. Aurora were seen as far south as Maryland and Virginia yesterday. Not sure if things will even stay clear enough to tell.

To many clouds here. But some as far south as Arizona last night were able to catch glimpses.

I went to see the Aurora out in the country a few months ago. It's not really all that. You can't even tell, if you are just looking with a naked eye. You have to take a pic with a longer exposure (5 seconds or so) to even confirm you are seeing it with color.

Pics are cool, but if you wanted to just go somewhere and watch it move, you will probably be disappointed. It's just gray in color.

X1.1 solar flare was launched today, directly facing the Earth. CME is predicted to arrive around the 17-18th timeframe. Estimates are looking at storms in the KP 4 to 7.

I don't think so. So far, it looks weaker than our best one, but it is still strong and might produce some Auroras.

Any flight simulator fans on the board? I was watching a preview for Microsoft Flight simulator 2024 and was blown away. The northern lights are just one of many neat features included.

There has been space storms for several days now - sparking auroras at the higher latitudes. There is a prediction of a larger storm over the next day that could be G2 or higher storm. Right now the view line is only down to middle of Nebraska, but if the storm is larger than predicted may spark some more impressive.

A severe Geomagnetic storm is in progress (KP = 8, G4). T/he full moon though is not helping things.

If visible in SC Kansas, it will be through long exposure pictures.
