According to Dutton, three years for $25 million; $5 million in 2013; $11 million in 2014; $9 million in 2015. I think that's a great deal and leaves room for perhaps another acquisition for next year.

I'll take it as long as there's another front end addition.

Mazzaro and CRob traded to Pirates for pitching.....

Marks named to AFL Prospects team

And in other winter play news:
In the Venezuelan Winter League, catcher Salvador Perez continued his hot hitting. In 10 games for Tiburones de La Guaira, Perez was 16-for-48, .372, with four doubles, three homers and 14 RBIs.

Shortstop Alcides Escobar began play for Cardenales de Lara but went just 2-for-13 in his first three games. Outfielder Paulo Orlando was 10-for-24, .417, in his first six games for the same team.

Catcher Max Ramirez had a .315 average for Bravos de Margarita with 29 hits but just five for extra bases, all doubles. Utility player Rey Navarro was hitting .319 for Criollos de Caguas with nine RBIs in 11 games.

Right-hander Juan Gutierrez, former closer for Arizona, had a 1.13 ERA in 17 relief outings for Leones del Caracas with nine saves in 10 chances and a 1-1 record. He notched 17 strikeouts against five walks in 16 innings.

Guillermo Moscoso, a right-hander claimed by the Royals off waivers from the Rockies, was 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA in seven relief appearances for Caracas.

Former Angels right-hander Anthony Ortega, signed as a Minor League free agent, missed last season because of Tommy John surgery but has pitched in 20 games for Tiburones. He has a 3.24 ERA and 24 strikeouts in 25 innings.

In the Dominican Winter League, infielder Tony Abreu was hitting .244 in 12 games for Aguilas Cibaenas and left-hander Atahualpa Severino had a 4.97 ERA in 19 relief appearances for Tigres del Licey.

In the Puerto Rican League, shortstop Christian Colon was 16-for-50, .320, for Leones de Ponce and second baseman Irving Falu was hitting .256 in 11 games for Indios de Mayaguez.

Left-hander Ryan Dennick was 2-0 with a 1.56 in four starts for Mayaguez. Dennick was 6-5 this year, mostly in relief for Northwest Arkansas.

Down under, outfielder Carlo Testa had a .361 (13-for-36) mark for the Melbourne Aces in the Australian League.

KC is rumored to be one of the top teams in a possible trade for RA Dickey. One rumor has them shipping Wil Meyers to the Mets, and another has KC sending a bigger package of recent draftees to NY for Dickey.

Dickey will be in the final year of his contract in 2013 and will earn just $5 million. Obviously this is all conjecture, but it would be a gamechanger if KC could pull this off.

Wil Myers for one year of Dickey would be a poor move. If they had Dickey for 2 or more then it could make sense, but next year isn't necessarily the year they win the Central. Especially with Duffy and Paulino out for most of it.

Hey @SubGod22:, I noticed KC re-signed your favorite player Getz. Surprised you didn't mention it.

Actually, for $1 mill, probably not a bad deal to have him around.

I hadn't seen that. For a million it's not horrible unless they're set on playing him everyday. They have other options I'd like to see get legit chances there. I'm still not sure I'd say I like the move. They had a couple of guys that can play multiple positions that produced every bit as good or better than he does that are cheaper and may have a little more upside.

Especially if it is really true he has a small ligament tear in his elbow. He has a decent statline, his main problem (which might be helped playing with the Royals) is his 39 HR he gave up this last year.

Royals lose 5 in Rule 5. Diego Goris is the only one I'd heard a lot of good things about in the past. But a couple of the others definitely have the potential to be solid relief pitchers in the majors. RHP Ethan Hollingsworth, LHP Brendan Lafferty, LHP Ryan Dennick and RHP Federico Castaneda.

And in other news, they still haven't done anything to make them look better on paper or better on the field. When is this team gonna find someone who actually wants them to compete?

Patience. I've heard that they're targeting Anibal Sanchez and are looking at Dempster. But Sanchez is the main target. These things take time. If we don't here something by Christmas, I'd be worried. But from what I've read, once Grienke and Lohse sign, things should start to fall in place for everyone else.
