Nope. I would rather marry a female sheep than a man. In fact, I've heard from various Northern Iowa alumni that sheep can be rather fun.

This is the best marketing strategy I've ever seen in my life, and I'm older than some dirt and understand marketing.

The population was absolutely polarized. Those opposing the stand boycotted. Those supporting the stand lined up for hundreds of yards to support Chick-Fil-A.

When was the last time you saw a line waiting to get into Chick-Fil-A. Chick-Fil-A was on the national news about any time you turned to a new channel.

I hadn't heard a mention of Chick-Fil-A for several years - and then this. Now there are lines waiting to get into their establishments. Chick-Fil-A is probably having record sales.

I, personally, would prefer that you keep your nose out of what I do behind my closed front door. I will return that favor and not concern myself with what you do behind your closed front door. I'd prefer that you not tell me who I should or shouldn't marry, and I will reciprocate by not telling you who you should or should not marry.

The moment I have the right to tell you anyting about how to handle your personal life, then you should have an equal right to tell me how to handle my personal life, and I'm not about to let you tell me how I should handle my personal life. That's my business - not yours.

I am by nature a Republican who believes in a limited government. I would like to think that the party who endorses a limited government would see this argument as one that the government does not have to get involved with.

If someone should choose to marry someone else of the same sex, why should the government get involved?

For those of you who post here and encourage a smaller government role in our lives, I would like to ask you how discouraging individual choce leads to a smaller government.

I am totally burned out and a bit disgusted with those who want to ensure a smaller government footprint, but want to make sure the government enforeces their moral and religious ideologies.

Your rebuke was very strong. From your statements above, I would surmise that you are also against government intervention of any kind in the abortion argument and all culture wars. I'm not as idealogical as you (although I do have some idealogical tenets) and I find that people who are very idealogical and unbending in government tend to be that way in most if not all parts of their life. Most people do have some pragmatic leanings too. I may add here that I do agree with you that we should not go behind closed doors to spy on others. But someone can be married (and do many other things) behind closed doors even though the government doesn't recognize it. Governments have been deciding many issues for people of a society since mankind began living so close to each other and inevitably problems followed that had to be solved and governments evolved as a result.

The one area that I tend not to bend is my beliefs in what the bible says about society and cultures. I think that Cathey is right that the bible tells us that cultures, societies, and governments that become so arrogant that they can re-write what the scriptures (especially the New Testament) say about issues will decay and eventually wither away. Anyway, that's been what has happened throughout history.

IRS and martial deductions, etc, put the government into the definition or marriage and family.

I will add that as traditional marriage and traditional family (which should be the goal even though we may not reach it) decline and alternative lifestyles become the norm, I believe that the problems of our society will continue to grow (ie poverty, pregnancy out of wedlock and children without two parents, education decline, dropout rate, alcoholism, drug abuse, children abuse, etc.). This is already an epidemic in the inter-city throughout our country and moving into suburbia.

shockmonster makes a good point. Heard a news anchor say that currently 71% of all Black Americans are being born out of wedlock.

Forgive me, but I am not sure what that has to do with shockmonster's point.....feel free to educate me. I don't know if this is on topic or not, but the greatest reason that number is so insanely high is that the government subsidizes single moms because of their bleeding hearts. I see it every single day. I have an employee that just had her 8th child, all with no dad paying child support. Why? One of the older kids is now an adult so her subsidies are going down. They know exactly how to work the system to get as much as they can BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT THE GOVERNMENT TELLS THEM TO DO. It's insane.

Want me to tell you about how many people buy food stamps for .50 on the dollar?
