I like to think yesterday was a protest of the media's and the left's distortion of the truth.
If you've been following this story, and I actually hope you haven't because it is sad, you'd know that little truth has been printed. The media has constantly twisted the facts. Read the quotes from Mr. Kathy. He never commented on gay marriage. You are free to infer what you will, but I think the reason you saw the silent majority speak volumes all over the country yesterday is because they are tired of the nonsense. Supporting traditional marriage does not make anyone a hate monger, which is what the left and GLBT folks want you to think. If you read the media, you might think they give money to the KKK and other "anti-gay" organizations....like Fellowship of Christian Athletes?
The left does this because they know it sticks. They know people don't want to be lumped in with "hate" so they threaten anyone with that label and then good and decent people choose to stay quiet. Well, yesterday, imho, was an example of their response. They don't hate, and they are tired of being threatened with it. Stop trying to paint a false picture.
For the record, I don't think the state (and certainly not the feds) have any business in marriage in the first place. I couldn't care less if you are gay. I have hired gays (many) and I have more than 1 gay family member. Some I like, some I don't, just like non-gays.
By the way, where was the outrage and outcry when the President thought marriage was between 1 man and 1 woman, up to a couple months ago (when he realized he had to gin up the gay base to have a chance in the election)?
I'll answer if you need me to....I trust you don't.
The real hypocrisy is that all the hate is coming from the people accusing the other side of hate in this debate, and it is laughable to watch.Comment

Don't disagree with anything you say. I would simply point out that these tactics are used on both sides. The left will label you a homophobe or racist; the right will label you a socialist, communist, or RINO. As far as the president is concerned, people on the left had no outrage because they never believed that he did not support it. They believed he would not come out in favor of it early on so as not be labeled a socialist, communist, or secular progressive who is against "traditional American values". He had enough to deal with regarding his own faith, his birth certificate, flag pins and other questionable allegation made against him.Originally posted by WuDrWu View Post

@WuDrWu: hit nicely on how I view this whole thing. "Marriage" is a church issue and has no place in government, especially the federal government. If the feds want to regulate contracted civil unions (of which a "married" couple could also choose to do), fine. I don't care who contracts with who to co-habitate. Though, it will be hysterical watching the debate over who and how many should be allowed to form a civil union!
This issue is 2 things for me - respect for freedom of speech, and the hypocrisy of those who preach tolerance and acceptance, but want to run a business who has discriminated against no one, off their college campuses because of the personal views of it's founder or contributions to non-profits. (I bet they'd be shocked if they actually looked into what causes other businesses they patronize give money to)Comment

We live in an entitlement society where everybody expects to have all their wants (not needs) met. No longer is there honor in sacrifice; its get what you can get regardless of the consequences. This is as true for the gays who would threaten politicians and business leaders as it is for the spoiled puke in Colorado who felt his "problems" were so great that they superseded the lives of all those innocents he slaughtered. It simply comes down to humility, respect, and sacrifice, something our country has long lost sight of.
