    Nebraska, eh?

Are we sure those fish didn't die of boredom?

    Burn.
I think Pringles original intention was to make tennis balls... but on the day the rubber was supposed to show up a truckload of potatoes came. Pringles is a laid-back company, so they just said, "**** it, cut em up!" - MH

NOAA: July 2012 was the Hottest Month on Record

In more than 117 years of records, July 2012 stands alone as not only the hottest July on record in the lower 48 United States, but also the hottest of any month on record in that time span. To put it another way, July 2012 was the hottest of more than 1,400 months that we've gone through since 1895.

Here's where we stand in 100-degree days compared to 2011.

                Through August 9:
                2012 - 34 days
                2011 - 41 days

I think last year's record is safe.

One more thing. With 53 100-degree days in 2011 and 34 100-degree days so far in 2012, are there any other consecutive years with more than 87 days?

The drought is much worse this year than last year. Espec. since it's now a 2 year long drought

US cuts crop forecast as drought ravages Corn Belt

Federal forecasters are predicting record prices for corn and soybeans, raising fears of a new world food crisis as the worst U.S. drought in half a century continues to punish key farm states.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture on Friday said production of U.S. corn and soybeans is expected to be down 17 percent from its forecast last month of nearly 13 billion bushels, and 13 percent lower than last year. It was the second month in a row when the USDA has cut its production estimate.

The talk of heat is wierd. Dodge City since June 29:

                        Record highs: 0

                        Record lows: 2

I'm sure any showers will be east of turnpike. Does nothing for your goldfish.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.
