  • Unless KC dealt a combo of Myers/Odirizzi/Giavotella/Gordon/Hoz/Moose, they weren't going to get an impact starter under control beyond this year. While this wasn't a blockbuster trade, Moore got incredible value for a guy who could implode at any time and still had 1.4MM left on his salary.

I don't think Joseph will be the guy to replace Broxton. I'm betting on Mazarro or Hottovy.

Now, we have to hope one or both of Frenchy and Yuni can be dealt after clearing waivers. No team was going to trade for either of them. They are prototypical post-deadline trade bait.

    • Five-run third propels Royals in opener
KANSAS CITY -- It's been a rarity to see a five-run game from the Royals in recent weeks, let alone a five-run inning.

But that's exactly what the team got in the bottom of the third on Tuesday night, the key inning in an 8-3 defeat of the Indians at Kauffman Stadium. The win snapped a five-game losing streak for the team and helped start the homestand off on a positive note following a rough 1-6 West Coast road trip.

"I think everyone kind of could breathe a little bit," second baseman Chris Getz said. "Just to put an inning like that together, feel like we were kind of more in the driver's seat. We haven't been in the driver's seat in a while. It was a good feeling."
Three Possible Upgrades Acquired In The Royals Broxton Deal
The Royals completed a trade of Jonathan Broxton in return acquiring two minor league pitchers, one of whom is likely ready to contribute at the big leagues and one with some upside to be a #3 starter at the major league level.
