  • Greatest Christmas Movies of All Time

I'm bored on a Friday and Christmas approaches. I also just came across this article from AV Club - The 30 best Christmas movies of all time. In the link you can get their thoughts and some trailers of the movies. I'm going to simply list them out below and probably follow up with my top 5 or 10 or something. I always enjoy others feedback and thoughts. There are no right answers obviously as lists like this are completely opinion based and some of us like certain styles more than others, or certain actors. Or there's some nostalgia that hits harder for one reason or another.

    30 - The Santa Clause
    29 - The Polar Express
    28 - The Christmas Chronicles
    27 - Tokyo Godfathers
26 - Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town
    25 - Love Actually
    24 - Happiest Season
    23 - Black Christmas (1974)
22 - It Happened On Fifth Avenue

    08 - Home Alone
    07 - A Charlie Brown Christmas

    03 - Miracle On 34th Street (1947)
    02 - A Christmas Carol (1951)
    01 - It's A Wonderful Life

Not going to lie, I've only seen half of the ones listed above. I may check out a few of them over the next couple of weeks to see what they're about.

My personal top 20, in rough order. Some can fluctuate a bit and it's possible I might forget something that I'll kick myself over. I haven't spent a ton of time thinking about this.

18 - How The Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)
    17 - The Santa Clause

Obviously, the old question is still "Is any movie that is set around Christmas time really a "Christmas" movie?

Yes, I'm old fashion about this.

I feel if Christmas is a part of the story, then yes, it's a Christmas movie. Though I'm well aware that many don't exactly agree with that and that's fine.

I'm old, and a traditionalist, and Die Hard is absolutely a Christmas movie.

Santa Claus is Comin to Town is underrated at 26.

I've never heard of Tokyo Godfathers.

I don't know how anyone can leave the Year Without a Santa Claus off any list. Snow Miser and Heat Miser are the Godfathers of Christmas.

You can sing a lot of songs to yourself, but I gaurangoddamntee you that you know the melody and words to their bios.

My wife despises CHRISTMAS VACATION. I feel like I have failed at life to allow such heathen ignorance in my home.
