Sever Weather Potential - Sat (4/14) - HIGH RISK

I live just north of the line of damage down near Harry and Webb. I got off VERY fortunate, as my roof repair estimate is all of $125 to replace a few shingles that got pulled loose. They didn't even come off the roof completely. Just a quarter mile south of me, holes were getting punched in the roofs of the apartment buildings. I'm grateful no lives were lost and there weren't any life-threatening injuries from what I've read and heard. You could really tell how serious the situation was by how jittery the TV meteorologists were. I was thinking we were about to hear an "I'm not f-ing around, take shelter now" from them. Even the NWS warnings have gotten more blunt in the aftermath of Joplin.

For my family, it was:
Tornado Watch: kept a close eye on the TV weather updates
Tornado Warning: went to the basement and got ready to go to the "deep shelter" under the stairs
Tornado Emergency (followed shortly by power outage): hunkered down in the "deep shelter"

BTW, ShockBand may be considering a steel door for the deep shelter instead of the hollow interior door that is on it now. If I ever am fortunate enough to build a house, I already know I will have an F5 rated shelter in my basement. You just never know.

Sounds like a really close call, SB. Glad you and your family were able to make it out relatively unscathed. Have you been at that same location for a while now? I ask because I'm sure a lot of the victims who have been at their current locations for 20 years + must think they're tornado magnets with the similar path it took from the 1991 F5er.

People pile on me all the time for instigating stuff. Fine. Whatever. But then you come into the middle of something that doesn't pertain to you like a 12 year old girl yourself and add a "shut up" to the mix. Do you really think I'm gonna "shut up" when you're gonna come at me like that? Do you think that's gonna help matters? Do you really think that's gonna help subside things? Man, for wearing the Christian religion on your sleeve and supposedly being all about the turn the other cheek thing, you sure stray away from that at times.

I call a thread a fail at a particular poster that takes shots at me from time to time. The thread indeed was a fail. DSB then sticks his head out there and makes something out of nothing. I then questioned him about some serious concerns in another thread. I made a valid point in this thread and you the mature person that you are, have now stuck your face out there and have added "shut up" to the party, as well as a 12 year old girl reference.

Way to sit me in a my place Sub and helping make this place a lot less dramatic.
