  • NFL 2022

It's about that time with camps beginning this week.

But I came across this little nugget with some Wichita connections.

Sports Illustrated - Patriots Sign USFL Lineman Jeremiah Pharms, Jr.

Pharms played for the Pittsburgh Maulers this spring in the USFL. I somehow missed an entire season of the USFL.

The 6-3, 301-pound lineman played his first professional season in 2021 with the Wichita Force of the Champions Indoor Football League. He split his collegiate football career, first playing for the San Joaquin Delta College at the junior college level, before moving onto the program at Friends University in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA.)
There was also a cool spot on saw on YouTube from ESPN yesterday with Mahomes and a Make-A-Wish kid that was pretty good. I may try to go dig that up later.

The Chiefs signed Carlos Dunlap to a one year deal today. Helps solidify the defensive edge.

Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson suspended 6 games for violating NFL's personal conduct policy - https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...conduct-policy

Will only cost him 345K due to the fact the Browns made the first year salary just a little over a million:

Since no additional fine was levied, Watson is slated to miss six of his $57,500 game checks in 2022 for a total of $345,000 lost off his $1.035 million base salary. Watson's Browns contract will guarantee him a league-high $230 million, with a base salary that will jump to $46 million in 2023 and a $44.965 million signing bonus.

How many girls would one have to assault in order to miss an entire season? 50? 65?

There is no defense to Watson only getting a six game suspension. Why is this not causing an uproar?

It's not? It's consistently being talked about on ESPN, and they say there's an uproar.

Obviously, none of us know for sure, but a few former Pro's said on NFL LIve (I think it was RG3 and Rob Ninkovich were two of them) said that Watson's mess is very unusual. The teams (I would think PT's) monitor and keep a team of massage therapists that they use, and the scope of players is on rehabilitation for the next practice/games, so they want to have knowledgeable massage professionals on call. Having 25 or so massage therapists like Watson that only are called to his home is extremely unusual.

The Texans allowing him to do this on the team payroll, is why they are legally accountable, and have had to settle, monetarily, with these therapists too. This has stupidity and abuse possibilities written all over it. If the team was connected with the therapists, they probably would have had bad reports from them. As it was, it sounded like the women had no recourse to take.

NFL strips Miami Dolphins of 2023 first-round pick, fines Stephen Ross $1.5M for tampering with Tom Brady, Sean Payton - https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...dy-sean-payton

This was first mentioned in the NFL 2021 thread, but it finally has been resolved.

The NFL notified the Miami Dolphins on Tuesday that the team would be stripped of its 2023 first-round pick, among other disciplinary measures, for violations of league policies relating to the integrity of the game.

Following a six-month investigation, the league found the Dolphins -- primarily team owner Stephen Ross and vice chairman/limited partner Bruce Beal -- violated the anti-tampering policy on three occasions from 2019 to 2022 in conversations with quarterback Tom Brady and the agent for then-New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton.

The NFL, however, found no evidence that the team intentionally lost games during the 2019 season. In February, former Dolphins coach Brian Flores said in his lawsuit alleging racism in the league's hiring practices that Ross attempted to incentivize him to "tank," or purposely lose games, shortly after he was hired in 2019, with Ross allegedly offering Flores $100,000 for every loss that season. Flores alleged that as the team won games late in the season, Dolphins general manager Chris Grier told him Ross was "mad" that the on-field success was "compromising [the team's] draft position."

The league plans to appeal Deshaun Watson's 6 game suspension. The league wants him to serve a year.

Let him serve a year starting next year when it will have an impact on his wallet.

                              Cleveland is a classless organization.
