  • NFL Draft

The next few days are going to be interesting. I've seen lots of chatter about teams in the top 10 wanting to trade down but there hasn't been a lot of interest in moving into the top 10. The one exception I've seen reported is that Houston is wanting to trade their 13th pick to get into the top 10. I believe they also have #3.

There has been a lot of talk about the Chiefs using their 12 picks to move up. I figure they're going to package at least one of their first round picks (29, 30) to move up. How far remains to be seen. Some think they'll move into the mid teens, but the most recent chatter I've seen has them only looking to move up into maybe the early 20s. I think most of the thinking is that the top edge rushers will be gone by 10 and that this is a deep WR draft where they may feel they can get one of their top WR targets in the 20s, whereas a lot of other people think they need a top 15 pick. For me, as a Chiefs fan, this is the most interesting part of tonight's first round. I'm hoping they trade up with the 29th pick to get into the teens, then use pick 30 to trade back and pick up a few more early to mid round picks as they'll have to give some up to move up. They might also use these trades as a way to get into the 5th or 6th rounds if there are guys they like in that range and they don't have any picks in either round if I'm not mistaken.

The Chefs have too many picks. They almost have to package some

But it doesn’t have to be for this year. No need to waste them, and I think Brett Veach knows that.

It is going to be an interesting draft for the Chiefs. For the first time in years I am excited to see what the next three days bring.

I'm not entirely sure how I feel about round one. The CB seems like a good pick and I know the Chiefs need an edge, but I'm not sure about this Purdue guy.

I think we are going to like him. High motor guy. Have heard comparisons to Tamba Hali.

Tim Grunhard compared GK to Jared Allen. Both 6'6 265, same 32" arm length, same 40 time (4.6), a 3 down DE (not just a pass rusher or a run defender), Relentless Power Bull Rusher, etc.

The more I've heard about the Purdue guy the more I've warmed to it. Skyy Moore seems like a HR for KC. The LB sounds like a great get and the S could be a factor, especially as the #3 safety that the Chiefs seem to use a lot. They've been hitting the D hard and that's absolutely what they've needed to do. Though if Khalil Shakir is still available when they pick in round 4 I'd love that potential add.

KC has killed this draft so far. They got the WR they wanted and picked up a 5th, which they didn't have. I'm actually excited for Rd 3 here in a bit.

That's high praise and I'll wait and see. I was hoping for a more athletic type of edge, but we still do have Joshua Kaindoh who they drafted last year that they hoped to develop into that guy.

They have several draft choices today yet. I wouldn't be surprised if they drafted a DT, or a more athletic type of edge rusher that is a 3rd down specialist, or sign another FA after the draft that is a 3rd down guy. They will most likely draft a OT too.

I love this draft so far. Veach is the best talent evaluator Kansas City has had in my lifetime. I don’t know how deep the Dback class is at this point, them and the WR have been run on pretty hard, but I’d really like to see a couple CB/nickel/S players nabbed. Hard hitters for the ST.
