Did anyone else attend the ceremony yesterday?
They tried to pack 900+ graduates into one ceremony. It started at 2:30 and wasn't done when we finally left at 5:15. (My son was toward the end, among the last 50 or so, and just kept walking out the tunnel like so many others did before him.) We had scheduled his graduation reception for 5pm, thinking we'd have at least a half and hour to get there after the ceremony.
Apparently it was the largest fall commencement they've ever had, but at some point they should have known how long it would get and divide it into multiple ceremonies like they do for spring commencement. With more high school students having a semester's worth of credits by the time they step onto campus the fall ceremony will continue to be larger than it used to be. By the time we left, well over half the grads and 7000+ attendees had left. I would guess there might have only been a quarter left by the time the choir and band performed to close.
What a mess. Hopefully the early exodus sent a message.
