For the old timers, Mike Finnigan was a KU basketball scholarship player who quit KU and moved to Wichita to form a band named the Serfs. He later moved to the West Coast and toured and recorded with Jimi Hendrix, Bonnie Raitt, and dozens of other acts. He was also a studio musician recording with groups like Crosby, Still, and Nash.
There was a West Coast band named "The Jerry Hahn Brotherhood" that featured Jerry Hahn and Finnigan. Both of them claimed Wichita as their home. Hahn recently had quintuple bypass surgery and has gotten shingles since then. Hahn taught guitar (for college credit) at WSU a few years in the early '70's. At that time he was rated as one of the top 5 jazz guitarists in the world.
Hahn retired from touring, recording, or playing gigs a few months back. Sadly, Finnigan passed from kidney cancer earlier this week. He was 76 and had been active in the music industry until his bout with cancer.
