A funny story: I asked the Realtor about guns. He said we're all ready for the zombie apocalypse in the Colorado countryside. I said full magazines? He responded, well I don't think any of us have "AsSaUlT RiFleZzZzZ!!!11". I was like, NO ASSAULT RIFILES?? Then how can you say you're ready for the zombie apocalypse? In which he replied, "you're probably right".

If I ever chose to live in the Colorado wild, you better believe I've got an AR strapped to my ATV. 10 rounds? LMFAO! And you better believe I'd be uncorking the .338 Lapua Magnum on occasion too. Not necessarily to kill anything though. I don't hunt.

See how quickly I can switch from Rep profile to Dim? I'm uncategorizable.

No Stand Your Ground laws in Colorado. That's a big problem if you're ever confronted. One more thing you have to prove in court... that you tried to evade the attacker. If your life is threatened and the perp aims to cause harm, what you do in those first few seconds can make all the difference in the world in whether or not you get shot.

15 round magazine capacity would exclude my FiveSeven (20rd mag), but I have an FNP .45 that holds exactly 15 so that would pass Colo's laws.

Wow. I didn't know Magpul used to be located in Colo. I have a ****-ton of their magazines.

IMO, 223 is a great rural prairie rifle. Enough range and power to take down a coyote before it becomes a threat. If I was in the Rockies, I wouldn’t even bother with such a ineffective round unless I wanted to piss off a bear or a moose 30 times (well, 15 I guess). Nothing smaller than a 44 magnum in my sidearm would be appropriate. Maybe get a lever action for the ATV.

In a confrontation with an animal, I actually would prefer exercising "a duty to retreat" rather than when faced by a human "animal". For me it's all about intent, innocence, and justice. In the wild of Colorado, we are the trespassers. But your comments are well-founded. Don't ever let yourself be under-gunned in a moment of self-defense.

I would just be far more worried about bears on my ATV than I would about marauding bands of forest thieves.

Clearly you're not familiar with the potency of Cannabis in Colorado and the capacity of the Coloradan Hippies to consume it. I have no doubt the mountains are teeming with crazies!

I plan on trying Marijuana someday. It's embarrassing I've gone this far in life without. I suspect I'll have a bad reaction though.

Oh man. I love me some Mile High City, first and foremost because of the Broncos. I am in Denver 2-4 times a year for football games. Part of me realizes that the cost of living will never let me live there...but when I’m out there for a visit, I internally wish I could find a way to make it happen because the mountains are breathtaking.

However, my wife has her dream job now, so barring some tragic family changes or unless I win the lottery, living there will probably always just be a dream.

I'll be heading over to CO for the NYE holiday. Leaving on Wednesday. Visiting some friends who just bought a place in Castle Rock. Gonna enjoy some good quality family and friends time. #freedom

Sounds like a real smart move in the middle of a pandemic.

Honey mooned in Denver, spent quite a bit of time in Kansas City. Lived in St Louis, Dallas and now Atlanta. By far, and not even close, St Louis was the most fun. A wide variety of entertainment options. Not sure about the airport because I have been gone a long time. But when I lived there a travelled the midway a lot and did not have a problem. I never figured out the bias WSU fans had with St Louis. As a place to live I enjoyed more than with Atlanta or Dallas. From a quality of live a diversity of activities St Louis was best. Atlanta is 6 hours to the Smokies and about the same to the Atlantic ocean. Both are fun. And of course the airport is MAJOR. The only other place I travelled to a lot was NY, offered a job there, but no thanks!!

                            Anyway just my thoughts

                                I am looking into Monument.

I talked with a realtor who works in the Buena Vista area about lots and land. We went over all the particulars on obtaining utilities. So I'm checking out options in the "country" as well as denser civilization. Looking for the Colorado "hack" if there are any left. I doubt I can go the country route though as I need a stable and fat porn pipe to do my work - 10ms latency or better.
Monument is ok, it’s more of a satellite of Colorado Springs than Denver. They’re rebuilding the interstate between the Springs and Denver, so access to the city should improve greatly in a couple of years. Until then, I-25 can be a parking lot between the two cities.

If you’re looking rural, Buena Vista is a good value. Salida, which is nearby, has become a really popular destination for outdoorsy types. You might look into the Grand Junction area too. You’d probably have better internet there.
