Anyone know why someone would want the following via an open records request (https://openrecords.wichita.edu/view...og/entry/1110/ - request logged on 11/30/2020):

"A copy of the Wichita State guests who were invited to the university’s Student-Athlete Center ribbon-cutting event on Sept. 30, 2020."

WSU replied to the request with a it "does not have any documents responsive to your request". The guy who made the request, Andy Wittry, has made a lot of requests lately, especially since the Marshall investigation. If you go to the main page - https://openrecords.wichita.edu/view-request-log/ - and search on his name you'll see all his request. He's a freelance writer, with his own blog, and has written some for the Stadium regarding college football and college basketball.

There's an article about the ceremony on the Go Shockers site - https://goshockers.com/news/2020/9/2...athlete-center - along with photo's, but it's odd someone would want any invitation list.

Wasn't sure where to post this, but since I found it via the open records request log, I figured I'd post it here. There was a request logged on March 8, 2021, for the following:

        1. a copy of Wichita State’s 2020 NCAA Financial Reporting System report. Since this request is of public interest, I’d like to request that any associated fees are waived.

The revenue and expenses report can be found here: https://goshockers.com/sports/2015/5...formation.aspx. All fees for this request have been waived. The University now considers request #1398 closed.
When you go to the goshockers.com link mentioned - https://goshockers.com/sports/2015/5...formation.aspx - there's 10 years worth of financial information that's interesting to look at if you're into numbers. There are three different reports:

Wichita State-ICAA Financial Statements - auditor's reports, basically overall revenue and expenses

Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act Report - breaks things down by men sports and women's sports, shows the number of players and staff in each sport, along with some financial information per sport

NCAA Membership Financial Reporting System - another report on revenue and expenses but it gives more detailed information on everything

There was an interesting log entry added recently regarding the employment of the AD - https://openrecords.wichita.edu/view...og/entry/1638/ - it requested contracts for coaches and the AD and WSU ended up posting that the coaches contracts could be found in other requests, but they did post a couple new agreements for the AD. One is dated 12/15/2020 and states it's an amendment to an agreement on 7/1/2020. It mentions specific sections of the agreement, but I've looked through the logs and searched online, and the only mention of a contract for the AD was back in 2019 (https://www.kansas.com/sports/colleg...225944750.html) and that contract is at https://openrecords.wichita.edu/view...log/entry/144/ and it runs through 6/30/2022. So I'm not sure if the 7/1/2020 was a new contract or an extension of that one. The request also has an amendment dated 6/24/2021 that states a $72,000 increase in salary for 20-21 would be deferred and paid no later than 6/30/2024. So given all that, it's possible the AD's contract was extended from 2022 to 2024 last year - I'm not sure if that's the case though because there's no mention in the news about an extension.

There was a log entry added last week dealing with WSU and Critical Race Theory - https://openrecords.wichita.edu/view...og/entry/1654/ Someone from the Sunflower made the request and the description just states "Email to KBOR is attached." KBOR had emailed people at the state universities and said KBOR had received a legislative inquiry into whether or not Critical Race Theory was being taught at the public universities. The WSU employee emailed back that WSU has courses that teach Critical Race Theory. No article yet on the Sunflower web site about it.

Edited to add that it looks like the above thing with KBOR and CRT was in the news in early June. The KC Star had some stories on it, including this one - https://www.kansascity.com/news/loca...252001133.html - that covered what each school sent back.

If the AD was extended, they probably don't want to publicize that too much...

It is interesting that some of requested information are being returned by private email, or in case of DUI

                  Record faxed directly to requestor.

I noticed that too. They almost all seem to relate to police policy or police actions.

If he got a new contract in July, 2020, then the timing is interesting because that's prior to the whole Gregg Marshall thing happening. and Golden would have still been president. Seems like it wouldn't have been much of an issue to announce anything at that time.

The AD had a lot of detractors prior to that.

I have no opinion on the subject, but every public person has detractors. But there are detractors and then there are DETRACTORS. If one has DETRACTORS, they are in trouble.

There was an interesting request logged recently by someone at the Wichita Business Journal asking for "the names, job titles and salaries of the 25 highest-paid employees at Wichita State University during the 2020-21 school year, or the associated fiscal year" and the request and pdf can be found at https://openrecords.wichita.edu/view...og/entry/1870/
