What is Dickie V crying about!

A side to this story: Detroit was at home playing St. John's. That's the Big East, BCS St. John's who played in the Dance last year. And Detroit was honoring Dickie V, a former successful coach there, by unvailing the court which is named after him. They were playing on their school's home court, not some larger arena in Detroit. Why am I ranting about this? Two reasons.
1) This is a BCS team playing at a mid major school, that at the time of scheduling this game, was supposed to be a pretty good ball club (suspensions and injuries have hurt that) with the coach's 5 star son on the team. So it can be done.
2) Calihan Hall seats 8,295. The attendance for this game....5,377. My guess is that a game like this would have been a sellout for WSU at IBA. This is the type of game to bring into Intrust. Just making an observation.

I respect Dick Vitale so much. He comes across as a very genuine person, and is very philanthropic with his money and time. I'm glad he got honored like this.

I agree Kai, it will be a sad day in the college basketball world when Dickie V announces his last college basketball game. There just isn't, and never will be an announcer like him. His enthusiasm for not just college basketball, but all sports, is what makes him great. I'm glad he was honored in this way.
