Billy Buckner passes at 69

Red Sox legend dies at 69 of dementia. He was one of the good guys. Even though he played for some teams I didn't root for, I always like Billy Buck.

I was at a wedding dance in Sharon, Ks. Martina McBride was fronting her Dad's band. They were really good. I remember them playing ZZ Top's "Under Pressure" and Ernest Tubb's "Waltz Across Texas", done back to back , and both identical to the original recordings. The band took a break and I ran down a block to the local bar to watch the World Series game on TV. I watched the ball go through Billy and then I went back to the dance.

Since Martina was fronting the band, it must have been interesting hearing her do her best Billy Gibbons on Pressure.

On Sunday, Bill Buckner's last day on Earth, 16 players struck out three times in their games.

In 22 seasons, Bill Buckner NEVER struck out three times in a game.
