  • Ron Paul

He ended up amassing just over $6 million in online donations yesterday. A pretty good haul. He's now over $18 million for Q4.

He is going to be a guest on the Glenn Beck show at 6pm tomorrow (Tuesday) for the full hour. It should be a good opportunity for anyone interested to hear his platform in a setting that will allow a fuller explanation than the debate formats.

Make sure you are registered and know where to go on Feb. 9 (I think that is the date) to vote in your local caucus. There are no primaries this time around.

        What's it matter?

Unless he wins NH, it's pointless.

Royal, this cnn report isn't going to help out your boy Ron's chances at all.

A series of newsletters in the name of GOP presidential hopeful Ron Paul contain several racist remarks -- including one that says order was restored to Los Angeles after the 1992 riots when blacks went "to pick up their welfare checks."

Doesn't matter he was never a viable candidate to begin with.

From what I hear, he was just on CNN addressing this. I'm sure it will get YouTubed within a half-hour.

This was brought up during his congressional campaign in the 90s. So it's nothing new. As with most things of this nature, his explanation will satisfy some but not others. So we'll see where this goes.

To add my opinion to what is in the linked article, outside of those newsletters there is absolutely nothing of Ron Paul himself, either writing or speaking that even remotely resembles the offensive statements in those newsletters. His platforms all starkly contrast that stuff. And his writing style is very different from the way those articles were written. He's definitely guilty of trusting other people way too much and not monitoriing what was going into those newsletters. I have no reason not to believe that he's learned his lesson and won't let that type of thing happen again.

I also happen to think that if he were not considered a viable candidate by some critics, this would not have been brought up and re-hashed.

If anyone is interested, here is the CNN interview (via YouTube) with Paul where he addresses this:
