I don't care about games or applications.

Then you don't need either then. They are just oversized Touches/Iphone.

If you are looking to purchase for your son, then definitely get the IPAD.

        Neither. Motorola Xoom.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

I would echo those comments. Having used both, the IPad is a superior piece of equipment.

Really depends. Playbook is a beast for shooting video (with a tablet?). It'll take 1080p like a champ.

I'm not a tablet guy, however. I can do everything I need to do on my EVO.

This episode was pretty dumb, but I think it will answer all of your questions. The 4:00 minute mark specifically answers your question.

Kyle is intimately involved in the development of a revolutionary new product called HumancentiPad.

Do you care about malware, viruses, ect.? If so go with the iPad. Plus, apple's customer support is the best bar none.

However, when your 1 year warrenty runs out, expect to be asked to bend over.

That is with anything. The question is what is apple track record of their product workmanship of lasting beyond the warranty? My personal experience has been good.

Like Cartman did in the SP episode... must admit that was classic.

Apple is known for price gauging for stuff not covered under warranty. Ever try to get the battery replaced in your iPod? ...might as well throw it away. As for other products such as a Macbook Pro or iBook...take them apart and you'll find mostly the same hardware that's used to build a Windows notebook. The difference is when I replace a hard drive/reinstall the OS in a Dell notebook I charge around $60 for labor, if it's a Mac $200 barely covers my time.

However, everyone in my family over the age of 6 owns at least one Apple product....

Bought the Playbook last Friday, tethered to my blackberry phone, very cool, e-mail and contacts run thru the phone.

No data plan or any add on charges which is pretty neat.

Great graphics not enough business applications to justify keeping it though.

Returned it yesterday and am shopping for an iPad2.

Decided that I really did not this fancy update of the etch-a-sketch and am going to buy a new sliding glass door for my house.
