I'm a Derby grad and can't believe how low the student make-up has gotten over there. This guy is a prime example of what I am talking about.
I'm as big proponent of law enforcement as they come, however if two cops have to resort to a taser to take down this punk kid who looks to be 120 lbs soaking wet, then I wonder what kind of officers Derby is hiring. Shame on them for not being able to control this undersized youth effectively without having to throw punches or using a taser.

Unreasonable force. Write the kid up and be done with it. Are school resource officers really being used to monitor and enforce dress code violations?
When I was there, no only did their presence act like security but they did instruct the students about the D.A.R.E program among other programs that are designed to keep kids on the straight and narrow.
However, this type of job wasn't for me. I preferred being on the street and initiating activities to get drugs, weapons and the bad guys off the street. In my three years on the force, I cannot remember an incident that stands out that justified an SRO. Was it because our schools were safe or was it because there was an officer present on the grounds? Probably both.

My suspicion is this kid turned this into what it was by his attitude and demeanor and decided to challenge authority.
