Yost has a history of playing young players even when they're struggling with the belief that they'll learn from their experiences. He did the same thing in Milwaukee and it worked out pretty well for them.

However, if Kila continues to struggle, and Robinson continues to hit well in Omaha, a switch would be nice. If Robinson comes up and produces, you have better trade opportunites with him I'd guess. We know that neither he or Kila are in the Royals future. Not with Butler and Hosmer.

C-Rob got hit in the elbow with a 95mph heater last night and left the game. But he did hit his 4th HR.

Monty picks up his first AAA win but still walked 5 while getting 6 K's.
Montgomery was picked up by his offense, which came through with some timely hitting. Second baseman Johnny Giavotella lined a two-run single with two out in the fourth inning, giving the Storm Chasers a 2-1 lead in the contest. Two innings later, Mike Moustakas and Clint Robinson added some insurance with RBI base-hits of their own, providing enough cushion for reliever Greg Holland to earn his first save of the 2011 season.
Storm Chasers regular first baseman Eric Hosmer, who served as the designated hitter in game two, went 3-for-3 in the ballgame with a walk and two runs batted in. The powerfully-built lefty has now collected seven hits in the first three games of the series, boosting his batting average to an eye-popping .409 through 11 games this season.
Myers hits first HR in NWA win. Dwyer takes the mound today.
Rocks win 6th straight in double header sweep. Pimentel pitches today.

            Chasers win. Teaford pitches today.

Dwyer pitches well in NWA win.
Dwyer settled in from there, overcoming three errors behind him to keep the Naturals (7-4) deficit at one. He did not allow more than one baserunner in any inning after the first and retired the last seven batters that he faced.
After Dwyer's outing was over, Blake Johnson entered with a four-run lead in the seventh and continued his impressive start to the season. The team's all-time leader in appearances needed just 26 pitches to fire three scoreless innings and earn his first save of 2011.

Johnson allowed just a hit and a walk and struck out two Hooks. The right-hander has now opened the season with 12 scoreless innings spread out over four appearances. The walk he issued Monday was just the second free pass that he has allowed this season.
Jeff Bianchi extended his hitting streak to nine games with a one-out double in the fourth. He has been held hitless just once this season. On the basepaths, Derrick Robinson stole a pair of bases to raise his team-leading total to six while Colon swiped his fourth of the year.
            Lamb will pitch today.

            WILMINGTON WINS SEVENTH STRAIGHT

2B Rey Navarro is currently hitting .513. Yes, .513. Pimentel pitched 5.1 giving up 3 runs and striking out 5.

            Melville pitching tonight.

Noel Arguelles has now started two games for high-A Wilmington, going 4.0 innings each time. He's allowed a total of 4 hits, 0 runs, walked one and struck out 6. Very encouraging now that he's finally pitching.

Crop number one of starting pitchers is nice (Monty, Lamb, Dwyer, Duffy). But crop number two (Odirizzi, Melville and Arguelles) is starting to look decent. We knew about Odirizzi but Melville and Arguelles have been big question marks.

Oh, and Louis Coleman has struck out something like 16 of the 21 batters he's retired in Omaha. Those are crazy numbers.

                Storm Chasers Blank Punchless Redbirds
Teaford (1-1) allowed just one hit - a first inning single - while walking three and striking out four over six shutout innings. He was followed by Chavez, who earned the save with three shutout innings of his own. Chavez has not allowed a run in 9.1 innings pitched on the season.
Moustakas, in addition to his rare bunt, turned in a pair of fine defensive plays at third base. He twice snared line drives inches off the ground and was able to double runners off first base, including on the game's final play when he doubled up Freddie Bynum at first after snaring a Matt Carpenter liner.

It was the second game in a row to feature terrific Storm Chasers defense. Second baseman Johnny Giavotella was featured on SportsCenter's Top 10 plays on Monday, when he started a spectacular 4-6-3 double play against the Nashville Sounds.
Will Smith pitching for NWA tonight.

Melville struggles as streak stops at seven.

                Sample pitches today.

                  Offense on fire yesterday.
In the bottom of the third, Moustakas made history by becoming the first Storm Chasers hitter to hit a home run at the new Werner Park. He was also the last player ever to homer at Rosenblatt Stadium, giving the moment a bit of added significance. Lough later added a long ball of his own, giving him a home run, two triples, two doubles and four singles in six games at Werner Park.

Robinson and Hosmer also continued to sting the baseball. Robinson went 4-for-4 with a walk, raising his average to .404 and his on-base percentage to an even .500. Hosmer went 2-for-3 with two walks and three runs scored and is now batting .415 on the season.
                  Duffy will pitch tonight.

                  Blue Rocks drop 2nd straight.
Tyler Sample took the tough-luck loss as a result of the offense's shortcomings. The right-hander yielded a pair of runs on seven hits in 5.2 innings pitched. Sample (1-1) fanned five, but walked two, and left with his team down by a run in the sixth.

Omaha wins 1-0 on a Moustakas single in the first. Duffy pitched ok.

NWA was rained out last night.

No info on the Blue Rocks yet...

Monty is 1-1 on the year with a 3.00 ERA. After his first start, where he gave up 5 runs, he's only given up 1 run in 10 innings. However, he has 11 Ks to go with 8 walks. Hasn't been doing well against lefties so far either.

Hosmer is batting .393 with a .477 OBP, but he's not hitting for much power yet, with only 1 HR and 4 doubles in his 22 hits.

Clint Robinson is batting .373 with 4 HR and 11 RBI. 9 of his 19 hits have gone for extra bases. Kila must either be out of options, or is BFFs with Moore.

Moustakas is only hitting .241 and hasn't gotten more than 1 hit in any game this season. However, he does have a 9 game hit streak going.

Or they are giving him more than just 12% of the season to prove himself.

I'm not saying Kila is going to fulfill his potential, and if you pressed me I would say he probably won't be valuable in KC, But you have to give him at least a couple months of consistent PT before deciding he isn't a major league player.

At the very least give him a chance to increase his trade value. He could be a throw in for a team that needs some organizational depth in AAA.

My third grade son was given a free ticket to the Omaha Royals, ahem, Storm Chasers game on Tuesday night. Not being a big fan of minor league ball, I didn’t want to go- and with the temperature at 39 when I left the house, I begged for him to stay at home. I lost. That said, I watched the game without giving a hoot who won. I do have to admit, what I saw was some pretty good players. Actually, very good. I don’t follow the Royals, and despise Kansas City, so I don’t know all of the names of the players, but the outfielders are all fast and have canons. I thought the pitching was great, all pitchers were in the upper 80’s to low 90s, and as a group one hit Memphis. Then again, by game time, the temps had dipped into the mid 30’s and that can slow hitting. But cold bats aside, they clock all pitches and it was 88, 87, 89, 91. Bang, bang, bang. I don’t have the slightest idea of what Omaha’s record is, and really have little desire to attend another game, but as there are a bunch of Royals fans on this site, so I just thought I’d give a little bit of feedback, that in the one game I saw, the future does look bright in Kansas City.

On another note, I was neither impressed, nor unimpressed with the new stadium. It is about what I expected. There are some really nice features, you are very close to the game and is very fan friendly. But you can also look and find shortcuts. Also, they have a big metal building behind left field that is used for locker rooms and I’m sure other stuff. And unlike other minor league games I’ve attended, they charge for everything. Two bucks to park, five bucks per child to let them play on the inflatable’s and beer is eight bucks for 16 oz. They literally nickel and dimed me to death! I hope my kids don’t drag me back.
The place is nice, but not really worth going out of your way for. And where the thing is located in Sarpy County, it is out of the way. I took a few photos but don't know how to post them here and don't know if anyone would care to see.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Thanks for the eyewitness account, MVJ.

I hate feeling like I need to take out a loan to attend a sporting event. It's why I NEVER eat at a Shocker game. I'd rather grab a McChicken at McD's beforehand. My wife and I might purchase a large drink at the game and share it.

I'm not going to pay $3+ for a 75-cent hot dog. And while it's been a few years since I've attended a professional sporting event, I'm sure they charge much more for the same crap.

I always eat before or after an event. Very VERY rarely will I purchase anything there.
