Myers, Herrera to represent KC at Futures
Back to back years with two in this game. I'm not sure I expect to see Myers in the lineup next year, at least early, but can't wait to see him in KC. And Herrera may actually make the pen next year if he keeps throwing like he has been. Although there are a lot of young guys in the pen as it is.
KANSAS CITY -- There are no guarantees in baseball, but the future is looking pretty bright for Royals prospects Kelvin Herrera and Wil Myers, both of whom were selected to play in the 2011 XM All-Star Futures Game.
Current Royals Alex Gordon and Billy Butler both represented the organization at the game in 2006, and rookies Eric Hosmer and Mike Moustakas played in last year's contest. The success of those four seems to bode well for the Royals' 2011 representatives.
"It certainly does," said Royals director of Minor League operations Scott Sharp. "You wouldn't nominate them if you didn't think they had a future, obviously."
