  • R.I.P Coach Kriwiel

Ed Kriwiel passed away on Monday at the age of 81. Although I didn't play football at KMC, I attended HS there in the height of this success. I also knew Coach, Mary and the family through my parents, school and church events. Besides his coaching legacy, his community and church involvement touched the lives of literally thousands of people in a positive way. His life and dedication to young student-athletes are truly inspirational. Coach will be missed by many.

Coach Kriwiel was on the football staff at WU during some of the most turbulent times in the program. His short tenure as a Shocker not withstanding, Shocker Nation has lost a family member, too.

He used to beat the Carroll teams I played on like a drum. Just goes to show what good coaching does as the tables are now turned. KMC has not come close to replacing him and probably never will.
