Shocker softball announces 6 player recruiting class for next season that is noticeably weighted towards pitchers and good students.

WICHITA, Kan. – Head softball coach Kristi Bredbenner has announced the signing of six new student-athletes for the 2017-2018 season today.

Hailey Martinez is a right-handed pitcher from Minnesota described as a finesse pitcher.

Caitlin Bingham from Tecumseh, Oklahoma is described as a high powered right-handed pitcher who chose WSU over Oklahoma and Arkansas. If realy true, that sounds intriguing.

Neleigh Herring from Chandler, OK and McKenzie Weber from Overland Park are described as versatile utility players who may be able to provide depth in the circle as well as other positions.

Ashton Esparza from Allen, TX is described as a spunky, versatile player with a potentially huge bat.

Bailee Nickerson from Sumner, TX is described as a great athlete with a strong arm, good range and good reactions in the outfield. She is said to have the potential to be a dominant player in the MVC.

    Certainly sounds good on paper.

Especially, Bingham and Nickerson, who sound like they could be early contributors.

        Recruiting Class

I was impressed with how all of these girls spoke about all the things that went into their choosing WSU. KB & her staff did a great job of selling WSU the their program!

Here is an interesting "signing" by HCKB.

Ryleigh Buck out of Wellington, Kansas, the 2016 Gatorade Kansas Player of the Year, who originally signed with Central Florida is transferring to Wichita State and will be eligible this Spring.

          UCF Roster Bio.

Sounds like a case of home sickness perhaps.

Most likely paying her own way because I assume HCKB has probably already divvied up her 12 shcollies for this year.

Here is the interesting and unusual story on how Ryleigh Buck is now a Shocker.

Also this article incudes an update for Pitcher Jenni Brooks who underwent surgery to correct compartment syndrome in her pitching arm. HCKB hopes Jenni will be avaliable by the time Valley play starts next spring.

That is interesting. I wonder why Central Florida wouldn't clear her when these other schools would? Oh well, good for us.
