Shocks finish at 24-over and they sit in 17th place in the 18 team Raleigh regional and 17 strokes out of 6th place. The Top 6 teams plus the top 3 individuals not on those 6 teams advance to the NCAA Championship Tournament.
The 16th was the hole of doom for the Shocks today as they played that hole in 9-over as a team. They had 2 pars, a double-bogey, a triple-bogey and a quadruple-bogey on that hole. Alejandra Arellano had the quadruple-bogey which was very unfortunate because she was a solid 2-over par over the other 17 holes to finish at 78. Bryce Schroeder had the double-bogey and was 3-over on the other 17 holes to finish at 77. Meghan Schuetz had the triple-bogey as she skied to an 85 and had the throw away score for the day.
Taryn Torgerson finished at 6-over 78 and Maria Villalobos contributed a 7-over 79.
The Shocks shot their 2nd consecutive 312 and are in 16th place at +48 which is 29 shots out of the 6th place cut line. Obviously, they are playing for pride and the fun of competing today. I believe the Shocks were seeded 17th in this 18 team regional so they are right where they were expected to be.
Bryce Schroeder followed her 1st round 77 with a very nice 1-under 71 effort in round 2 and is at 4-over 148 for the tournament. Bryce is in a 9-way tie for 18th place and there are around 7 players ahead of her not on the top 6 teams. She doesn't look like she has a very good chance to finish in the top 3 individuals not on the top 6 teams who will advance to the National Championships but if she can match her 2nd round 71 she could perhaps make this interesting.
The Shock shot 306 today which was their best team round of the tournament but they did not move up any as they finished in 16th place.
Bryce Schroeder had a bad day shooting an 11-over 83 and had the throw away score for the round and obviously was not in contention to advance to the National Championship Tournament as an individual.
Alejandra Arellano and Maria Villalobos lead the way today each shooting 3-over 75's. Taryn Torgerson shot a 77 and Megan Schuetz a 79 to close out the final round scoring of 18-over for the Shocks.
Alejandra Arellano is the only senior on this year's team.
