  • Wichita/IBA to Host 2022 NCAA WBB Sweet 16 & Elite 9 Games

The NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Committee announced Wednesday that Wichita was picked as one of four regional sites for the 2022 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament. The games, held March 25-28, will be played at Intrust Bank Arena.

Okay Coach Keitha now you have something BIG to shoot for.

Really something to look forward to. There should be competitive games for the second weekend.

When we hosted the first weekend several years ago, we were fortunate to have the only competitive site that weekend - Wisconsin-Green Bay (just Green Bay now) beat Michigan State.

I enjoyed those games. I think Arkansas-Little Rock and the Jacqui Kalin lead UNI Lady Panthers were the other two teams in the league. Green Bay was an impressive WBB team that year. UALR and UNI played respectably in their 1st round games.

It might be a pipe dream but Coach Keitha is willing to dream big:

“I’m a dreamer and a visionary, so it definitely plants a seed in there and makes my wheels turn,” Adams said. “I’m excited about it coming to our great city and the attention it’s going to bring to women’s basketball. It’s great for the game and great for us. We’re going to dream big.

“We got a long ways to go, but it’s all about planting seeds and working hard to achieve big goals.”
Looks like KSN's Carly Willis is auditioning for a starting role:
