I love Abbey but MEH is an upgrade and not a small one.

Thanks for the input guys. Is she a taller setter like Abby and Katelyn?
This is coming back to me now, I thinked it was discussed hear about a month ago. Perhaps Coach Lamb discussed it in one of his chalk talks.
Another reason for coming out to the VB matches. It certainly doesn't hurt with recruiting and you just never know when a Shocker recruit will be making a visit.

Shocks strong at the start, lackadaisical in the middle and strong at the end in a 3-game sweep of Drake. More to come.
In the meantime, Creighton and MSU going to a 5th game in Springfield.
Actually, I stand corrected. Creighton defeated MSU in 4 games by scores of 30-22, 26-30, 30-28 and 30-25.
Creighton is apparently playing very well. Shocks will need to play better tomorrow nigth than they did against Drake tonight in order to handle the Bluejays.

Shocks now up 2 games in the loss column.
Tomorrow will be tough but a great opportunity for the Shocks to pretty much put away the regular season conference race.

Shocks dominated Game 1 and were never really challenged winning
30-14. Shocks hit 0.613 and had an 86% side-out % in Game 1.
I actually thought Drake outplayed the Shocks in Game 2. The Shocks lead by 5 at 16-11, but could not shake the scrappy Bulldogettes. Drake went on a 9-4 run to tie the score at 20-20. The Shocks went ahead
24-21 on a service ace by Sara Lungren and looked like the would finally put the game away after taking a 29-26 lead. However, after a service error (aka momentum killer) by Emily Stockman, a Drake block of an attack by Stephanies Tokarz and an attack error by Lindsey Eckenrode, Drake pulled back into a 29-29 tie. After a Shocker timeout the Shocks put the game away on kills by Lindsey Eckenrode and Emily Stockman.
Game 3 started out close, but the Shocks broke away from a 6-6 tie behind the serving of Sara Lungren and Melissa Granville to win Game 3 by a score of 30-15. Shocks finished Game 3 with mostly reserves in the lineup. Lefty Amanda Backes finished of Game 3 with 2 very strong attacks.

It was fun to see reserves like Sara McGee :good: , Amanda Backes, Taylor Keyes etc get some PT.
There was even an Amanda Moore sighting. Can you believe this girl was the MVC player of the week in September of '06 and can't get playing time as a So???
What a difference 1 year makes.

Emily Stockman had a nice bounce back game from her performance against MSU with the exception that she is still struggling with her jump serve. Emily hit a solid 13-4-28 = 0.321 and completed another double-double with 10 digs. However, she had 4 service errors and no aces in her 9 service attempts. Drake won the point on 7 of those 9 serves. Perhaps Emily should put away the jump serve the rest of the year and work on it in the off season.
Stephanie Tokarz had a solid line at 8-1-14 = 0.500 and did not play in Game 2 until fairly late. Stephanie had no blocks. We need her to be in little better in that area vs Creighton.
Angela Jakubov had an outstanding match with a 13-0-20 = 0.650 attack line plus she participated in 5 of the Shockers 6 blocks, including 1 solo block.
Kim Wadsworth was also solid at 9-2-21 = 0.333.
Sara Lungren had a good serving night with 3 aces and only 1 error. Sara's attack line was not great at 6-5-19 = .053, but she did not appear to be the primary target for Abby tonight. May have been by design in order to save wear and tear on Sara's knee.
Melissa Granville also served very well. While she had only 1 ace she did serve an 11 point run to pretty much put Game 3 away going from an 11-8 lead to a 22-8 lead before Drake could break her service.
Kelly Broussard was her usual solid self at Libero and lead the match with 17 digs.
Play of the Game: IMO, Sara Lungren with a lunging, diving one-fisted dig that popped over the net and found an open spot in the middle of Drake's defense.
I thought the attendance of 2,196 was pretty good for this opponent sandwiched between the Men's BB game and Saturday's BIG Creighton match. The students, however, continue to be conspicous by their absence.
If you were one of the 2,196 in attendance consider your self a true Yellow and Black Shocker Maniac.
