If the net is 7 1/2 feet high Sara McGee and Katie Niggemeyer must be reaching well above 10 feet when they are striking the ball. The Ind. St. players barely have their hands above the net.
Nice pics, but keep in mind the angle from which those pictures were shot. Since you see the floor behind the Shocks the camera man was probably shooting from behind Indiana State from a high vantage point, such as where the Pep band sits. Nevertheless, they do show some of the athleticism that the Shocks can bring to bear.
I considered that but photos 2 and 4 seem to be more straight across with bleachers in the background.

They start even with or on the left side of the setter and "swing" out to the outside of the net. The best way to tell if it's a swing hit is if they jump off of one foot or not. Chances are if they do then you know it's a swing hit. If they jump off of two, it's a normal 3 step approach.
Is that just another term for a slide?

Thanks. BTW, I appreciate you (or anyone with volleyball knowledge) sharing it on the board. I feel that I have learned a lot about the game over the last 5 years that I have been attending the matches, but that there is still a whole lot I don't know.

By all means, anyone who has any questions feel free to ask me, I love answering questions about volleyball, I've been around it since I was about 7 or 8 years old and I'd like to coach someday

I do have to say that I was very impressed with Backes play and wish we could get her some more court time. She has been thought to be maybe the best athlete on the team and I want to see what she's got.
