  • Shocks stay at #14 in Sept. 29 AVCA poll

No complaints here. Nice solid ranking and little change above us.

Edit: Just noticed that Northern Iowa finally appeared in the others receiving votes categories. That's ultimately good for the MVC and for the Shockers.

Also, former Shocker opponent Michigan State has moved into the "others" category, joining Cal-Poly (#24) among teams we've played.
“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'

      Fixed.

I really think we've topped out in the rankings. However, I couldn't be more proud of the team so far. They have been outstanding and the ranking is justified and deserved.

I'd be happy as all get out if they can just hit #10 by the end of the year. But if they don't, I'm still happy.

We just need to keep winning and hope it's good eneough to host a regional.

I think we can afford one loss to UNI and still host.

Hosting an NCAA regional would be an absolute blast.

To host would be great 10,000+ at Koch. Top 16 should host but it is the NCAA. There not very bright. Remember wasn't it 2005. 18-0 in the Valley and ranked 25th and no bid to the dance.

Have, or are we going to, put in a bid to host?

Are your acquaintances NCAA Selection Committee members?

When does ESPN, or any other national TV carrier begin to pick up NCAA Tournament games? Round of 16?

On the plus side of the voting they did close 25 voting points on 13th place

No, my sources are more intelligent and more in tuned to the situation.

Yes. I've been told the process is evolving and is not as refined as even the baseball criteria.

The Chuck is available this year...whether planned or not, that's for me to know and you to find out.

You may or may not be interested to know that Colorado State is hosting a Super Regional this year....things that make you go hmmm.

That is true, however, on the other side they went from 104 points up on San Diego last week to up 65 points on Pepperdine this week.

Wouldn't mind seeing Pepperdine pick up its 1st loss before we do.

Yes. Except for last year (because of a schedule conflict), we have apparently put in bids every year for several years. You can talk to coaches (e.g. Chris, Shannon), the AD staff (e.g. Eric, Ruth), etc. and they will be pretty straightforward and honest.

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

Here is some advice if you want to stay informed but don't want to bother the AD staff or coaches and is usually my source of information. There is a group of fans that attends many away games (e.g. Oklahoma, Omaha, etc.) and interacts with the group of players' parents and coaches who attend such games. This group of people is often at Koch shortly after 6PM (for a 7PM game0) and you can approach them and obtain "news." It happens that I see one member of this group almost every day and so I might be better informed than one or two of you. I would encourage you to talk to other fans, mingle and learn who are these people. They are great Shocker fans and great people. I first learned that WSU definitely did/will put in a VB subregional bid from this group.
