Lambo: 3 lineups in 3 games. Mikaela in a completely new role.

Dave Rubio, the Arizona head coach, said he wasn't sure there are 5 or 6 setters in the country that are better than Emily. She is a pro.

Lambo said Emily is an exceptional athlete who was smart enough to become a setter.

Lipscomb is a very good defensive team.

Lambo was definitely relieved to get this one out of the way. (That makes two of us)

Does anyone know if the NCAA will be giving greater weight to true road game wins in Volleyball this year in the same way they are doing that for men's basketball?

In any case this is a nice true road win over a team that has a very solid non-conference schedule and one that should win a lot of matches in their conference.

In addition to the Shockers, Lipscomb plays Arizona, Missouri State, at Ohio State, at Wisconsin, Texas A&M, Western Kentucky and at Florida in the non-con.

I have officially become a member of the Lipsomb Bisons fan club this year even if Bison is actually plural for Bison.

Lambo said he played 3 lineups in 3 sets. This is why I say WSU isn't know for its height. It's known for throwing everything including the kitchen sink at opponents and seeing if they an figure it out.

Sets 1 and 3 today were real nailbiters. Considering that the Shocks were able to pull both of those sets out of the fire against a very solid and well-coached team that may have been one of the best things that could have happened in this season opening match. Shockers had to save 2 sets points in each of these sets.

Doesn't appear as if ETSU will be much, if any, easier this evening.

The Shockers Sunday opponent, Belmont, swept Elon yesterday 23, 20, 16 and knocked off host Charlotte today after losing the first two sets 12-25 and 20-25. They came back to win the final 3 sets 25-20, 29-27 and 15-8. Belmont followed that up with a 4-set win over Southern Utah 22-25, 26-24, 25-23 and 25-20. Maybe not very high quality wins but Belmont will be 3-0 when they face the Shocks tomorrow.

In the ETSU pre-game Mike Kennedy reported that the Shockers suited up 18 players on this trip.

            From the ETSU pre-game ...

the Shockers and Arizona are not playing each other in this tournament by mutual agreement. Mike suggested that the fact that all of the Shocker staff worked for Arizona HC Dave Rubio at one time or another was probably the reason.

Shocks fall behind 0-2 then run off 7 straight on Emily's serve to force and ETSU timeout.

ETSU has rallied back to within 1 at 12-13 and the Shocks take a timeout.

Emily's 4 Aces is a winning poker hand. Thanks for the update Mike

Shocks lead 15-9 in Set 2. Very similar to set 1. Shocks jumped out to a 7-2 lead. ETSU rallied back to within 1 at 8-9. Shocks re-establish.

Emily already has a 17 assist - 10 dig double-double plus she has 4 aces and 4 kills on 5 attempts.

Set 2 goes the Shocks way as well 25-16. Two very similar sets as the Shocks go up 2-0.

Making quick work of ETSU. Arizona couldn't say the same.

I see a trend set 3 should be Shockers 25-15

I wasn't wild about the way the Shocks surrendered a nice early lead in both the first 2 sets but the way they responded to that was outstanding.
