WICHITA, Kan. - Wichita State head volleyball coach Chris Lamb announced the 2017 volleyball schedule, which includes 11 home matches and four tournaments.  The Shockers will play 20 matches in American Athletic Conference play and 10 matches against teams that participated in the 2016 NCAA Tournament.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

Home opener against Creighton on September 15th. I will very disappointed if we don't draw a big crowd for that. A good opportunity to show our American Conference brother and sisters what we can do on the court and in the stands.

Tough 2 week stretch towards the end of the regular season with 5 conference road matches between November 10th and 22nd finishing at Memphis the day before thanksgiving that playing a return match against Memphis at home to close out the regular season on the day after Thanksgiving. In the past the Shocks would be playin in the Valley Post-Season Tournament over the Thanksgiving weekend. The AAC does not hold a post-season tournament in Volleyball. The regular season champion earns the auto bid. Personally I prefer that.

Generally, the AAC plays conference matches on a Friday - Sunday schedule because of travel distances and it avoids conflicts with football. The Valley generallly played a Friday-Saturday schedule with a couple of mid-week matches mixed in.

Future opponent Cal Poly starts 3-0 (3 sweeps) including a very nice win over #28 Dayton.

Creighton warmed up with 2 sweeps of St Mary's and Pitt before tackling #3 Washington tonight.

          Creighton leads 2-0 (22, 17). AT Washington

          Strong.

Creighton in 4. The Jays play an incredibly challenging schedule.

They return home for Kentucky, Southern Cal and UNI then go to Lawrence to play Purdue, Belmont and Kansas. If they were to beat Kansas, and they'll be favored in the other 4 matches, they could be #2 when they line up against the Shocks on September 15.

I worried about this when all the excitement was happening, but I just remembered to look at the schedules and it looks like none of our conference matches are going to be on ESPN3 unless some of them get picked up later. The AAC digital network had three games on last year that I believe were conference tournament games. It is going to be kind of tough to go back to "radio"only, I hope someone has heard otherwise.

Can you tell us more? What site do you go to to find the link for a particular match? Is there a charge? Other nice-to-knows? Thanks in advance.

It's a free live-stream with pretty decent commentators. Very easy to use and good quality. You can access it through the conference website: http://theamerican.org/watch/cardy.aspx?Archive=4108 or the conference youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/AmericanAthleticConf
