I'd guess the chickenhawks weren't behind us because they like us. More likely they think we would be an easier win than the Ark. You know, that BCS thing.

So harden your heart again Doc.

I appreciate the comment but this isn't an opinion thing. I'm either right or wrong. Either the NCAA rules prohibit it or they don't I just can't find it.

I agree, it was a fun atmosphere but specifically the chants while the opponents serve are terribly unsportsmanlike at a minimum.

      • And to add 1 last thing, totally acceptable during the regular season.

Curious... Why is it ok to make as much noise to the opposing team when they shoot free throws, but it's not ok to make noise when the opposing team is serving? Is it a tennis or golf thing? Seems it would be a lot more fun to make a lot of noise. I'm sure the ladies would love it.

What do you mean it's unsportmanslike "at a minimum." What is it at a maximum?

By the way, did you tell your man ADES to build a VB only facility when you spoke to him yesterday?

          • There's no difference UNLESS there are rules preventing it during an NCAA event as the host.

And as far as my discussion with ADES I decided that he has better things to do. Otherwise we had a pleasant talk.

The band is going to do it anyway and we'll just have to overcome adversity.

            • I suppose the question would be whether the band (when they're not actually playing) is considered an official part of the "hosting personel", or just student fans.

                • I can remember some recent NIT games in Koch (wsu host) where 10k+ were screaming at top of lungs during closing stretches of the game during opposing free throws. I am not going to throw anything in my glass house. Vball or basketball, awesome atmosphere is welcomed as long as language is clean.

I bet the competitor in the student athlete welcomes it. I did. It makes for great stories when telling your kids one day. My stories always seem to get more and more hostile the older I get, my own fish story..

                    • Yes proud of both of my alma maters. Don't get to see these matchups too often as my Jayhawks refuse to step up and play our Shockers, other then in softball and baseball.

I didn't realize rules prevented the band from playing during play. I kind of like hearing it rowdy. Sounds like the KU/WSU game is pretty loud - energetic. Sounds great.
I was just curious whether you spoke to ADES. I knew you were going to speak with him about the KU band. Thought it a great opportunity to plant the seed of a VB facility. Can't imagine too much more to do for ADES than to build up the Shocker athletic programs (unless or course he is working on football). :-)

Neither the band nor the music over the PA system can play while a point is being played, only in between points.

Good call @WuDrWu:. The ladies did play their A game pretty much after the 1st set against the Hogs and, of course, your prediction was on target.
