Unfortunately, I was not available today to follow the match in any fashion today. Thanks for the commentary Doc.
Shocks did finish off the Tigers in 4 sets 15-25, 25-22, 25-16 and 25-17.
Lambo may have to find a place where the Ladies can play an intrasquad set before they start their matches.
Looking at the stats it appears Sam and Chelsey lead the way today. Katie Reilly also had a very nice line, but Ashlyn looks like she struggled. Emily was OK -- my guess is defenses continue to focus on her -- but she did have 4 service errors. Elizabeth was efficient but did not get a lot of swings. Ashley had a uncharactisticly high number of attack errors and she also had 3 service errors.
I don't know if it is just the nature of this team or if Lambo is just very good at making adjustments (perhaps some of both) but it is good to see they don't let the 1st set beat downs get them down.
Another solid win for the Lady Shocks.

Must have been Coach's plan to get Auburn over confident. After that first set, who'd thought we'd win in 4 sets, winning the last two 25-16 and 25-17.
Shocks race out to a 6-1 lead in set 4. I don't think Auburn really knows how to react. They play a lot of freshmen, and after the first set tonight, they were 25-3 in sets on the season.
This is their first real adversity.
Actually, Doc, Auburn is a fairly experienced squad and they don't play many freshman. They only have 3 freshman on the roster. Setter Ciara Richards shares setting duties in the 6-2 that Auburn runs so she plays about half the time. Mary Hannah Arrington, an OH, got into 1 set and had no stats. Those were the only freshman to play today against the Shocks.
Auburn also played six 4-year players (2 seniors and 4 RS juniors), 3 juniors and 1 sophomore in today's match.
However, you're right about the Shocks presenting the Lady Tigers with their 1st real adversity this year.
Thanks for the correction '72. Not sure where I heard that "3 Fr" playing...could just be my advanced age.
Again, proud of the girls figuring it out. That first set was ugly. Auburn blocked everything and was pounding the ball at us time and time again. They didn't get down, and they found a way.
Texas State sweeps SMU tonight 28-26, 25-13 and 25-23. SMU just waited to long to start playing. In the 3rd set they were down 8-16, rallied to within 1 at 19-20, fell behind again 20-24, pulled within 23-24 before Texas State put the match away.
I don't know if the tough 5-set loss to the Shocks last night took a little of the fight out of SMU or not, but looks like the Shocks better be ready to play tomorrow night.
Auburn swept Texas State earlier today 15, 19, 19.
Watching a good, if not really good Utah team get blitzed by BYU. Packed house at BYU (small barn) and tons of students for this big rivalry. The 3rd set was closer, with Utah leading half way through, the fighting off 4 match points before succumbing to the Cougars 24-26 in the 3rd.
How we had match point against BYU is a little hard to fathom...they're really REALLY good.

Colorado State just beat #12 Pepperdine 3-0!

Lambo wondered in the postgame show if anyone in Wichita had any ideas about how to get this team to play hard from the get-go. Two consecutive nights it did not happen.

While I continue to contemplate my own various "ideas" about how to get the team to play hard from the get-go, the Shocks get going this morning against the Bobcats of Texas State.
TSU was swept, convincingly, by Auburn, then swept SMU. They feature a couple of transfers from SEC teams and are far from a pushover.
And continuing a theme, the Shocks start slowly, trailing 7-2 as Lambo takes a timeout.
Traded points to 15 then WSU goes on a 3 point run. Timeout TSU, 18-15 Shocks. Sanders and Feekin continue to dominate. Sam apparently liking some home cooking.

Set 1 to the Shocks as they righted the ship after the sluggish start, 25-19, ending the game on a 23-12 run. Feekin and Sanders did the bulk of the damage.
Game Tracker is WAY behind so stats may be hard to pass along.
