Congrats on a tough win. It is a W, move on. Surprised our setter is not getting more attention and press. I think she is one of the best we have ever had. We've had some of the best in the Valley. Chelsey has much more upside to utilize in the next two years. She is very talented, ask our middles.GO SHOX!

I guess you know you been playing a very good schedule when you look at the lack of sweeps not only in the Shocker matches but in the tournaments the Shocks have played in. I think the only sweep in any off the matches played during tournaments the Shocks have been in this year was the Shocks 3-0 win over North Dakota State who will probably win the Summit League this year.
I hope this pays some big dividends once we get into MVC play.

However, as you say the upside is there and I expect her to improve steadily throughout this year as she finally gets to strut her stuff on the court again.

Auburn up next at 5:00 on Friday. The Lady Tigers are off to a 7-0 start although they have not played the toughest schedule in the world. http://www.auburntigers.com/sports/w.../teamstat.html
The are a very experienced team as they play mostly Juniors (2), Redshirt Juniors (4) and Seniors (2) plus a freshman setter and a 6-3 sophomore OH.
In looking at their stats looks like they may be running a 6-2 offensive scheme as they have two setters that have played in all 24 sets this year and have comparable stats. 5-7 Jr Chlesea Wintzinger averages 5.96 assists per set and 5-9 Fr Ciara Richards averages 5.58 assists per set.
Auburn will not have a size advantage on the Shocks. The Shocks will have a slight height advantage in the middle and our outsides will be comparable to Auburns in height.
This is a hard match to get a feel for but I believe the Shock's schedule to date has been much tougher than Auburn's and I hope that works in our favor, but Auburn does seem to have an advantage in overall experience.

I'm sure this will be a season full of hiccups and ups and downs. IMO, that doesn't mean there's more parity out there. The better team still won. Is there anybody in the Top 10 or Top 25 that hasn't been there before? I don't think one set indicates parity.
Glad WSU did hang on for the win. They need to start racking up some W's as much as possible.Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

In any case, I am sure I'm not going to change your opinion on this so we will just have to agree to disagree.
Now if you want to talk about lack of parity then women's college basketball is where it's at.Last edited by 1972Shocker; September 7, 2012, 09:09 AM.
