    Set Four

    Needless to say, same starters.

Five in a row for the Blue Hens. 6-10 and a Shocker TO.

No closer than three and the points are running out. 16-19, then 16-22.

Kills by Lauren, Sophie, and Lauren. 19-22 and a Delaware TO.

    20-25.

.306 v .364 for the set. .316 v .211 for the match. Same four leaders in kills.

6-6 and the freshman Polish setter (Zofia) is in for Kayce. If you can trust the LiveState, that is. Does this mean both Lauren P and Hailey are not available to set? Injury to Kayce?
Watching last night, I didn't see either in attendance, but I wouldn't swear to it.

It's tough to watch the play by play.....can't imagine how tough to watch live right now.

Z replacez Kayce at 6-6 in Set 3. Interesting. That hasn't gone too well as Delaware now leads 13-8 although not sure how much Z had to do with that

Kayce back in for Z at 9-13. Has Lambo switched to a 6-2.

Shocks rally from a 17-21 deficit to pull out a 26-24 win in Set 3. Better blocking especially late in that set.

8-13. TO Shockers. One kill and one service error since the setter change.

At 9-13, Kayce returns. Got it taped up?

13-14 and then 13-18 including two service aces to Lily. Another Shocker TO.

    16-19 and TO Delaware.

Kill, attack error, block, attack error and it is 21-21. Another Delaware TO.

A kill by Sophie ties the set at 24. Then she gets back-to-back solo blocks.

    26-24.

.293 v .128 for the set. Lauren, Sophie, Kailin, and Sophia have eleven, ten, nine, and eight kills on the match.

Shocks weren't blocked once in Set 1 and had zero hitting errors. Set 2, 5 Delaware blocks and 3 additional hitting errors. Tough to win that way.

2 aces to 7 errors on the match for the Shocks (4 aces 7 errors for Delaware).

Seems like plenty of opportunity to clean those numbers up and still win the match.

    Set Two

    Same starters.

    Trading mini-runs and sideouts. 9-9.

    20-25.

    For the set, .143 v .241.

Sophie with eight kills, Kailin and Lauren with seven.

One big difference from 2 weeks ago to last night and so far today, the Shocks served tough to start the season with 15 aces to 20 errors on the weekend.

Last night, 1 ace and 8 errors. 0 aces and 2 errors so far today. Those numbers MUST be better to be successful.

Shocks finding the Blue Hens D to their liking for the most part early. Up 15-9 WSU hitting .474 so far. Delaware did beat AAC foe Temple 3-1 last week.

    Shockers v Delaware

    Set One

Kayce, Kailin, Lara, Natalie, Lauren Mc, Sophia, and Lily.

Sophie rotates in on the front row for Lara and then Annalie rotates in on the back row for Sophia. Natalie and Lauren Mc rotate in as the middles. Three in a row gives the Shocker an 8-4 lead.

Trading three baggers brings the score to 11-7.

A 4-0 run by the Shocks stretches the lead to 15-9.

A kill by Sophia makes it 18-11 and the Blue Hens take a TO. At this point, the Shocks are hitting .524.

21-14 and the last TO by Delaware.

25-16 with three in a row closing out the set.

.536 v .158. Kailin with five, Sophie with four, and Sophia with three lead the kill parade.

Sophia clearly doesn't have the same "pop" that she had in the spring, although physically, to me at least, she looks in better shape physically.

Be that as it may, I actually don't feel that bad about the match last night. There's not a ton you take away, we were SO shorthanded. 7 sets in 10 hours with almost no subs.

The freshman from KC for Ku is the real deal. Caroline Bien was a problem all match for us and she was able to come out and stay fresh. I thought our littles did a good job, and we got touches often on a lot Ku swings.

Kayce was really good at setter last night as well. Different level of intensity and blocking imho.

I said before the season that I felt we were good enough to score up front but not much depth. Well, our depth was murdered this weekend which took away almost any chance.

We had a great chance to win the first set, and I'm not saying the outcome would have been different if we had, but it would have been interesting. We're much more on par with Ku this season than any since we beat them to go to the Sweet 16.

Set Three used a different starting lineup/rotation. I wonder if that caused a lack of rhythm and matchup problems that got adjusted to too late. The Shocks did have a 22-21 lead late but could not hold on to it.
