Some wishful thinking here, but I get the slight feeling that the coach is bluffing. He's maybe noticing alot of speculation. And Gabe may have told him that this was going to be a very secretive announcement. To grant Gabe his wish, that coach diminishes our hopes with his comments, only so we can be overjoyed when Gabe commits!

“Wichita State is not in the picture,” Linstead said. “He had a whole list of schools (when he arrived at Sunrise this year.) (He) was already being well recruited.”

That seems pretty unequivocal.

We apparently missed out on the exclamation mark, but one more is still likely. I'm going to guess that the last talent will be better (or more acclaimed) than Baker. We'll see where the dust settles after that, but even without, I give this class a B+.

I understand what he's saying. We did get Hall over VCU. Don't remember who else White was strongly considering. Nor do I remember Cotton off the top of my head. Seems like many were less than impressed with the other schools on his list though. Don't remember other offers for Wessel, but know he was getting looks from KSU and Stanford. How serious Stanford was I do not know.

That remains to be seen. Nobody ever comes out and says we recruited badly. Wsu just had one recruiting class implode that was hyped pretty well.

It just seems that wsu lost more battles than they won in the recruiting war and seemed they had to settle for their backup choices.

I'm not sure I'd call Wessel, White or Hall backup choices. I don't know enough about Cotton.

Didn't wsu lose against a couple battles where the players chose cu instead of wsu? I seemed to recall some say they really wanted these guy(s).

Now white does seem to be one battle that wsu might have won (uni seemed to be interested - depending on who u listen to).

Hall was another Small win - but let's be truthful you have to recruit juco because of failures in other recruits. Juco recruits are risky as it is (u effectively get them for a year and half and if they dont work out your screwed) and Hall has some medical baggage that we all hope is behind him but that is additional risk.

IMO, Wessel's recruitment would have blown up if he hadn't commited so early.
