I noticed him and was impressed. I couldn't find any current recruiting info, but he did sign with Oral Roberts out of high school.

    • He has Missouri State, Drake, Oral Roberts, and Tulsa listed. Based on geography and level, I would assume that we could easily get in on him if Coach decided too. JMHO.

      • Clevin's teammate Joey Cameron has de-committed to Fresno State and is opening his recruiting back up. This is at least the 3rd time the 6'9 forward has changed his mind.

        • Didn't see the game, but looking at the box score, Cameron may have some schools "de-committing" on him as well. Anyone at Hutch see anything here?

          • The big white guy was better than Cameron but didn't play as much. I think his name was Kleft or something.

            • When Flowers was in foul trouble and after he fouled out, Chipola's coach went with Cameron over Jon Kreft. Another personnel mistake, IMO.

              • A big mistake at that.

                • I just wondered what kind of impression people had of him, which is why I asked here vs. new thread. He had an impressive list out of HS/.

                  • Going by the potentially erroneous boxscore, Cameron had 2 points and 4 rebounds in 18 minutes. I really didn't notice him much. But that was the case with most of their big men since the guards were running the show.

Kreft looked much better. He had this one baseline move in the 2nd half that was a real display of agility and athleticism. Not many 7-footers could have pulled it off. He got the ball just off the block, power-dribbled around his defender, spun underneath the basket and put it in on the reverse.

Kleft was very agile for a 7' 260 lb freshman. He impressed me several times in different situations. He just got a piece of an opponents shot, came down and actually jumped back up to grab the rebound. Most 7' kids never jump, but he jumped and rejumped. Now I'm not talking 36" verticals here, but...you know.

Second was the baseline move Royal described.

Third, he was actually guarding a guard at midcourt line and only fouled because he reached and slapped at what was an apparent potential steal.

Fourth, he bodied up pretty well on defense against a big guy.

Compared to WSU's last several big men projects (Paul excluded), I'd take him in a NY minute.

If you'll dig a little deeper, you'll find newer articles that describe his personal growth and rejection of those things that used to trouble him.

                          • I was quite impressed with Kreft. He seemed pretty athletic and solid for his height. He really got up on some of his rebounds and looked quite solid in limited playing time. I was told by the folks I was with that he was committed to Florida State, but that must have been a reference to the earlier deal.

The guys I was with thought either he or Darco could be dominant in the Valley.

Flowers was very athletic but was in a lot of foul trouble. There is potential there, but there seems to be "a lot of juco in him" to borrow an old Randy Smithson phrase. In fact, that description could be safely applied to almost all of Chipola's player (except Hannah and Kreft!)

                            • From the article wu_shizzle linked to, it seems Kreft still intends to go to FSU, possibly after this year. But I haven't done any research to see if the feeling is mutual by the Seminoles.

Of course, if Orukpe arrives, I think we'd have a hard time convincing a third 7-footer to come here.

Last night against Seward, Gaines had a good news/bad news line (assuming the box score is correct):

                                Good: 19 points, 40 minutes

                                Bad: 0/5 3FG, 0 assists, 10 turnovers
