    Raymond Cowles-To Santa Clara

    http://wichitastate.scout.com/a.z?s=...=1&nid=2908317

Cowles is a 6-4, rising junior SF from Minnetonka (MN) Hopkins. Class of '09. Averaged 7.1 points as a freshman and 9.2 as a sophomore. His average is certain to go up as the team was led by Minnesota signee Blake Hoffarber (25.2 points per game). Besides WSU, interested schools are this point are Creighton, George Mason, Harvard, Southern Illinois, Western Michigan, and Yale. He has offers already from Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Wisconsin-Green Bay, Loyola-Chicago, North Dakota State and Northern Iowa.

That's a bit surprising considering early on it appeared he was going to stay close to home. Doesn't get much farther away than Santa Clara. But he should have some success there and they're not a bad team.

Apparently he's become his team leader despite not being the most high profiled player. I know we don't appear to be in on him any longer but it's still fun to keep up with them and see where they end up.

I believe he has somewhere around a 3.8 GPA. I know I've read some Rivals articles that mentioned his grades and I believe he's been quoted as saying academics will play a part. I'm guessing that's why Northwestern is in play.

Cowles has a new offer from Northwestern and will be visiting them soon. Has it been said he is smart? Harvard, Princeton, ect. appear very interested.

Cowles is starting to check out the schools that have offered. He may chose to attend a small school in order to get more academic attention. He has a 3.7 grade average and wants to major in business. He was impressed with St. Louis last week. He will be attending elite camps at Iowa and Northwestern but plans to use those trips to check out schools like Loyola-Chicago and Drake.

Current offers are St. Louis, Northwestern, George Mason, Loyola-Chicago, Drake, Wisconsin-Green Bay, Wisconsin-Milwaukee and North Dakota State.

The Minnesota Rivals site has him ranked as the 4th best player in the state ahead of teammate and ASU commit Trent Locket.

UNI commit Marc Sonnen is 7th.

We no longer appear on his list. He's picked up offers from Iowa, St. Louis and W. Michigan to go along with the ones listed above. And getting more attention from Iowa State, Michigan, Stanford and Marquette

Apparently Hopkins and Minnetonka is a very heated rivalry. They played an OT game recently and Cowles was huge on both ends of the court. Here's a pretty detailed description of the game

I'm guessing Hopkins VS Minnetonka was a big game on the 15th. Cowles put up 19 and apparently played some great D on the opponents top player.

Raymond Cowles was averaging 15.2 points per game and then put up 22 points last evening. Cowles struggled with his shot at first but as the game caught rhythm so did Raymond. He ended hitting three three-point looks and scoring on the break a number of times.

I think this is the same article posted above but I couldn't get into the article from that link.
