Flyover country. From an east coast perspective, the only measuring unit that matters is the time it takes the airplane to floy over the distance between the two towns.

Exactly right, Aargh. It's like the Alaskan bush out there -- either horses or airplanes. Can't even blame this one on rising sea levels.

When I was in Colorado, my roomate from New Jersey came back from Christmas breakand told me that his gir;friend's grandmother asked how he like the Pacific Ocean. He said he'd not been there. She replied, "Why don't you just drive over some Saturday?" He said, that's through Utah, Nevada and California. Grandma replied, only three states shouldn't take but a part of the morning.

According to this NCAA Recruiting Calendar men's basketball recruiting has been in a Quiet Period since May 1st (exept for May 18 - 26 which was a Dead Period) and that will continue through July 5th.

A quiet period doesn't mean no contact but there are some restrictions. During a quiet period coaches can't have off-campus meetings or evaluations of players. They can have on-campus visits (either official or unofficial), they can make calls and they can write letters/e-mails.

During a dead period a Coach can't meet with a player in any setting. Letters/E-mails and Calls are allowed. The player can visit a college campus but can't meet with the coaches on that visit.

Evaluation periods are when coaches spend most of their time watching players either during high school competition or club competition or at NCAA certified evaluation events plus everything you can do in a quiet period.

A contact period is when almost everything is allowed. Including home visits or other in person off-campus visits plus everything else previously mentioned. The NCAA doesn't use the term contact period on their calendar. They use the term recruiting period, evaluation period, quiet period and dead period. You can pretty much contact a recruit during anyone of these periods although only by telephone, letters or e-mails during Dead Periods.

Looks like the primary recruiting periods for off-campus evaluations and meetings occur in September through March.

After July 4th you have alternating Dead Periods and Evaluation Periods for the remainder of the month and then August through Labor Day or thereabouts is a Quiet Period. A lot of the NCAA Certified Evaluation Events are held during these July Evaluation Perods. After that a lot of the kids will narrow their lists and schedule their campus visits which can happen in the Quiet Period.

The NCAA Certified Evaluation Events are usually in April and July. You can find a list of the July 2017 NCAA Certified Evaluation Events here: https://web3.ncaa.org/bbcs/publishedEvents

They are all over the country but there are a few I saw that are in Wichita as follows:
July 13 - 16 at Wichita Hoops - GASA Midwest
July 15 -16 at Wichita Sports Forum - Reign the Plains Boys Showcase
July 21- 23 at Wichita Hoops - Mullen's High Profile Team Tournament

How about this? Sign this player or the very best point guard we can sign. I still want either Archie or Moss or both. Then get the 2 best bigs possible. For the icing on the cake, I really like Little but so does everybody else. While my "Santa Baby Shocker wish list" may not be what comes out in the wash, I'm sure SN will be happy once this recruiting class is signed, sealed and delivered. Then if MM and LS so chose to play all 4 years here, we will really be in ship-shape.

Not until November, mum. Even Rick Pitino might finally get in real trouble if he tried signing guys 4 1/2 months early.

They could have kept him out the first 6 games, let them keep their National Ship, but demand all the tourney money back? Maybe not possible but that would get Programs attention. Instead, the powder puff punishment seems to send out the message that gross breaking of the rules is well worth it rather than hitting them in the pocket book.

Why is he listed as anything other than a guard? Hasn't played anything but PG in any of the video available. Give me Serrel over Tyler Harris.

Serrel is actually listed on different sites as a Point Guard, Combo Guard, and Shooting Guard. If he can play a wing guard, usually he can play a wing forward.

The coaching staff knows what he can do more than any of us. The only red flag about Serrel for a Point Guard is that his assist averages on the one site listed was 1.5 or so. Tyler on the other hand was 3.5, I think. So Tyler has either played more point guard or looks to pass more, maybe. But the coaches know more about what they are looking for than I.

As I have said earlier, I watched Serrel play 2G here along side Michael Devoe at point for Nike South Beach when
they were here in LA. He never played point and I don't think he would do well, IMO. He is best at 2G. I don't think
he is tall enough at 6-4 to play SF without a senior growth spurt.

Really, the only way at Wing Guard is different from a Wing Forward is that a Forward needs to be able to go get rebounds (probably better) and they probably will guard the taller wing from the opposing team. One additional difference is that on SET PLAYS, they responsibilities are different and they have to memorize what they do on set plays for both positions. Otherwise, no difference. Baker was smart enough to play all 3, but rarely did because Gregg wanted to play additional players and they probably made fewer mistakes (forgetting responsibilities) if they played two positions instead of 3.

We had lots of players at 6'4 who played a wing forward including Baker, and even Landry several times. Tekele did it at 6'2.

Is Serrel 6'4, 6'7, of 6'5? Nobody knows for sure. LOL

He could play any of the 1,2, or 3 positions depending on what combos were best according to our coaches. LOL
