  • Here are the stats from KJ's game yesterday.

    24 points, 7 rebounds, 7 steals, and 6 assists. That's not far away from a quadruple-double.

    • And 8 TO's. Almost a quintuple-double.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

      • Two games in a row with high turnovers. KJ needs to get that figured out.

That's sort of like what Marisah Henderson has been doing for the Lady Shockers, high assists and high turnovers.

          • I was looking at the box score for Pinewood in the Chick-fil-A Classic. I didn't know the tournament was played in 16 minute halves.

Which is tolerable, considering what she brings to a team just hoping to avoid the basement. But if you want to compete for a conference title, at least half of those TOs need to be eliminated. Playing against D1 defenses isn't going to help.

Are those TO numbers consistent for KJ? Are we just learning about this because we're finally seeing full boxscores? Or is it just an anomole?

              • I just did a quick Prouty Rating on that game. Manigault had a 0.694 and Jennings had a 0.564. Of course the 10-0 record helps.

Manigault's Offensive Efficiency was 0.649 compared to Jennings 0.571.
His Total Offense was 1.000 compared to Jennings 0.633.
His Possessions Gained was 0.429 compared to Jennings 0.300.
His Win Rating was 0.700 compared to Jennings 0.750.

At least in this game Manigault was the better overall player.

                • TOs were a problem for KT in the summer game I watched.

                  • Pinewood lost in the championship game last night to Christ School 73-63. KJ had 20 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 blocked shot, 2 steals, and 8 turnovers.

                    • 10 for 17 shooting and only one assist to go with the numerous turnovers

                      • I think we all need to relax about the TO issue. High school ball is much different than Div I. I trust HCGM will get the most out of this kid and as KJ matures he will learn how to make better decisions.

                        • Overall, Pinewood had a pretty good tournament. In the championship game they held Duke signee Mason Plumlee to just six points, but Lakeem Jackson, a South Carolina signee who the Shox were heavily recruiting, put up 23. While KJ does appear to be turnover prone, he obviously brings several other things to the table. I'm confident that once KJ gets here and learns the system that things will take care of themselves. One thing I know for sure, I'm excited to see him play next year wearing the black and gold.

                          • Curious as to exactly what we are talking about; bad passes, traveling, carrying, what?

An anomole, Royal? Is that an anomaly that lives in the ground?

Good question by pin. Trop, since you saw him, what type(s) of turnovers did he commit most often?

                              • I sure hope he gets this figured out. So many turnovers at the HS level will only be compounded when he plays against faster and stronger D1 players.
