Sounds like a blessing in disguise for us.

To conclude our interview with Manigault we asked him to play the word association game and it went as follows:
      Wichita State: Marshall
      Pinewood Prep: Eidson
      Point Guard: captain
      The Best: Jordan
      Sickest move: crossover
      KJ Manigault: coachable
      Vaary Niiice!
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

The article in the Eagle said outside shooting was not his strong suit, but he averaged 13 ppg and 11 rpg his Junior year.

His strength is getting inside. But he is a pass first PG who has been working and improving his outside game from what I've been reading. He just has to be good enough to keep teams honest.

Rivals update. Rivals now gives him 3 stars. That's an upgrade over the usually unranked players who commit to us. KJ loved the campus and atmoshpere here!!!

                    • Kenny M. has intrigued me since jump steet. SR comparison to a Paul Pressey type player would fit a prototype of guard that I envision that Greg Marshall would recruit in here. Wins do start with defense.

When WSU would play against Tulsa and Pressey, it was sort of like playing against a quick octopus with multi arms robbing the rock before reaching half court. Pressey was not a great shooter, could score and pass, rebound and his defense led Tulsa to some nice victories.

Then as I watched Kenny's dunk above, I could not help thinking of Warren Armstrong, who had serious mega springs in his ups. So how about a player that could play the D like Pressey and Armstrong, and can pass, rebound, and jump like Armstrong? Yikes!!!!!!!
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

                        • WstateU---That clip indeed did bedazzle me. The commercials back in the day were fun. "us terrington smokers would rather fight than switch", I'd walk a mile for a camel." "There's something about an aqua velvet man." "2-2-2 mints in one." "where's the beef?" "Don't you BUY no ugly truck." "double the pleasure-- double your fun with doublegood, doublegood doublemint gum." "3 musketeers--big enough to share."

                          • I hate to take exception to a description of a Wichita State recruit, but remembering back eons ago Warren Armstrong's jumping ability, I have to say that in the KJ clip, I do not see the same jumping ability that is the equal of Warren's.

Warren, for his size, had freakish jumping ability!

KJ does have good hang time and ball control, but judging by the one clip included, I just do not see an equivalent to Warren.

I hope that I am proven wrong in my judgment!!!

KJ definitely looks like a keeper!

                              • There may never be another Shocker Guard with the vertical of Warren Armstrong. He is listed at 6'2" in the 2007-08 WSU basketball guide. Two things jump out at me (so to speak) on his leaping ability as a Shocker. The 1st was him out jumping a 7'0" player on a jump ball. The other was a televised game that a Shocker miss a shot. W.A. came from around the free throw line on the run, soared in the air with amazing hang time, and slammed the rock in with great force. It was amazing. What an all around awesome Shocker player Warren A. was.
