If it's an academic issue, I get the Sunrise idea. If it's a scholarship issue, it really doesn't help much, as we already have as many scholarships accounted for in 2017-18 as we do in 2016-17. Obviously those things always sort themselves out, I just don't see that being the reason for Sunrise. A question for someone more knowledgeable about the scholarship things. If someone "commits", I know it actually means nothing. Either party can change their mind. If they actually "sign", then can they still be sent to Sunrise, or are both parties obligated to fulfill that signing?

He is pretty young right? Then he could come in as 19 year old. Then we can redshirt him...by the time his senior year NCAA Final 4 rolls around, he'll be a 24 year old man playing against a bunch of boys.

A redshirt still uses up a scholarship, unless it is a walk-on that uses the redshirt (e.g. Brett Barney).

But that is my point. He is either a scholarship player or not, but whether he redshirts or not has no bearing on his scholarship status.

The idea that it is a choice between a redshirt or Sunrise is the only way it affects the scholarship situation. Whether he plays as a true freshman or redshirts (which was the sense of the article) is irrelevant.

Shockda, Eric Hamilton signed at WSU and came to Wichita for "pickup" ball, at which point it became apparent that he wasn't ready for WSU's roster at that point. So he went to Sunrise instead as a post grad year.

And as far as how Austin Reaves fits in with the numbers issues, just keep in mind that in HCGM's system, perimeter players get one year on the court to prove they can be a major contributor.

He did. Once he went to sunrise he was no longer committed to wsu, but chose to resign anyways.
