We also need for Shaq to have to work against good 5s in practice.

I wish. Love Perry. I won't have any incentive to watch KU after he graduates.

Also, I am not going to continue to destroy this thread about Will. So If you want to continue talking about 4 & 5 guys and shot blocking stuff, I'll be happy to chat about it on a new set of linens.

So that means that Shaq would have to double his 13.3 minutes per game over the last 18 games in order for this backup to take the remaining 13 minutes; is that what you're saying?

I like your question a lot - "Is that what you are saying?"

No. I said what you quoted. I said the best a new post player can do is 13 min.

I guess my math is fuzzy. If Wuilly is THE BACKUP to Shaq and the best he can do is 13 minutes, then the guys in front of him as backup must play 27 -- that would be Shaq in this scenario. That would mean he is going to double his current average of 13.3 minutes. What am I misunderstanding?

That you are under the presumption that neither Kelly, or Wamukota will get minutes at 5. This doesn't have to be a chess match. It's simple, I think both of us know Kelly and Wamu are going to play, leaving very little space for just another 1 or 2 year player to get all of their minutes. We aren't going to find a 5 that is great enough to outplay all three of them.

Everybody hoping that Shaq can average 16 minutes? I would question that.

We are not looking for a backup. We are looking for another guy to throw in the mix and then say "we are going to have...............TRYOUTS............"

He's averaged 13.3 over the last 18 games. The additional 2.7 doesn't seem too much to expect, at least to me. A lot depends on whether three/four of his fouls occur in the first minute or two he is in the game or whether his certain-to-be number of fouls are spread throughout his playing time

There are NO forwards returning whom I have confidence in. I LIKE them all, but this offseason, we are going to be sitting around posting about how much we hope they will all develop rather than how much we KNOW they will produce (like Hall, Early, Stutz, Durley, Carter, etc)

This is why I want another face in the mix. There is as real of a possibility that we will greatly struggle in that position as there is that we will be awesome. If coach is still recruiting a big, I'm taking that to mean first one is the more likely in his opinion...

I think with who this thread is about and what we have, that he will get beat in a push for a chance at minutes at WSU. Like what a lot of people have already said on this board. WSU looks great without Willy.

:( Way to be Stalwart, completely being opposite of the post above. And look, Shaq isn't going to need to do anyting besides continue to lose weight, which he is, and stop fouling. Who knows about the fouling. The only question with Shaq is if he can quit fouling. Which isn't that bad of problem to have whe you have the company we do. Did we really have all that much confidence in Kadeem, or Chadrack? Yes. There isn't any reason to think we can't be confident with what we have.

For Shaq to play 16 minutes, he has to not foul.

Perhaps this will help the discussion.
