Agreed. I'd suspect the offer is a bet on his potential and is contingent on improved numbers this season.

Wasn’t Craig Porter a Juco National Champ who was not highly recruited by P5 schools? We don’t need those kind of players?

This is kinda like making the comparison that any small town under recruited kid is Ron Baker. (which happens a lot of the boards here)

Keandre - 9.7 PPG, 42% FG, 1.8 RPG, 2.6 APG, 1.7 Asst to TO ratio

CPjr in JUCO - 14.8 PPG, 49% FG, 7.7 RPG, 6.6 APG, 2.8 Asst to To ratio

Kid might be ok .. but expecting him to be CPjr quality is a bit of a stretch.

You’re comparing a Freshman Keandre to a Sophomore CPJ. You say they’re making a mistake. I say wait and see. There is a significant possibility that he turns out to be better his Soph. Year.

I actually never said they are making a mistake. I'm just saying the correlation to CPjr doesn't make sense

No not every small town kid will be Ron Baker.. There's a gazillion of them. Every point guard on a National Championship team is a very small group.

I agree with Pin. There are a lot of upside, positive points to this kid. One is that He’s a “winner”. With NIL, If you can’t afford to pay 5* players, you have to be able to predict the next undervalued great player. That’s what they are trying to do.

The games started stat is significant. He didn't start a single game. He was a backup on a national championship team. This is not a bad offer. If he blows up in a good way as a starter, the Shox are in a good position. If he blows up in a bad way that scholarship may no longer be open by the time he might commit.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

As a Barton insider, Tell us what you know regarding this kid. As pointed out, he didn’t start any games. However, he averaged 20 minutes per game (half of the PG minutes) and 10ppg. so he was practically a starter. He sounds like an important piece to a National Championship. Was the kid who started the games a Sophomore and awarded time because of experience?

Nuthin. Zip. Zilch. Nada. ....... Well, I guess I do know that the WSU staff thinks he can play at WSU, even tho some of the fans disagree.

If it is the same guy I’m thinking of, he apparently was 5-7 much of his HS career, then had a growth spurt. He’s also a combo guard, which at 6-0 will hurt his recruitment from P4 schools. Very quick and seems highly coachable. Will be interesting to see how he develops this year.
