When Abmas went from 100% WSU to strong KSU and UT, there was a meeting that Ron Baker was invited to. He said that there were good things happening to get excited about. Shortly after, the rumor or info from TE was that Abmas was still in grasp for WSU. Then a few days later committed to UT.
This tells me that the meeting set some cash on the table and countered offers by UT. It came up short obviously, but it tells me that the money bags and priority people not only know what's going on, but also are in with the plan to keep things on the low.
Once again, I don't fault anyone at WSU for having a new strategy in recruiting. There's plenty of time and plenty of good players out there to build a strong team.

It certainly can't hurt recruiting if other schools don't know the priorities of WSU's recruiting. It certainly could hurt if other schools know WSU's recruiting priorities. There's recruiting to build a program and there's recruiting to prevent other schools from building their programs.
The term "control freak" is an incredibly negative evaluation. It often says more about the person throwing that term out than about the person the term is directed at.
Keeping recruiting targets out of social media and public information seems to be a sound strategy. I don't think it deserves the "control freak" label.

Beverly and Cortes are solid recruits. Not home runs, but they're solid recruits. Then some are going to say, "but they were bench players". What are you expecting? That P5 starters are going to come to WSU? That's delusional. Lower level starters and higher level bench players are what's available.
The least important factor in recruiting is that fans know what's going on. Money guys - you can bet your ass they know what's going on. You want to know what's going on - just be a money guy.
I just don't have as low of perception of WSU as many on here. I won't accept that we should just be ok with "accepting our place". NIL should have leveled the field for us with our support and not having football.

friggin teams like AAC Charlotte, FAU, Tulsa, East Carolina, Memphis, UAB, North Texas just to name a few are getting studs… would be a losers mentality to think we shouldn’t be getting better talent than most or all of those minus Memphis.
